When we were there in January there was still quite a lot of work to be done and the posters said it was due to open in Summer 2014.

They are running the mine train without human testers at the moment. When they are happy they let staff try it as testers and then you get the soft opening followed by the official date.
I would guess that they want it opened by Easter if at all possible.

My guess is, they'll open it very close to the time Diagon Alley opens at Universal Studios - to try and steal a little political thunder.
Both are due to open in Summer this year.
Anybody out in Orland at the moment that can tell me if the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride open yet ? or any sign of life ?
thanks
They have been doing the tests with staff but not yet open to the public as far as I am aware.

There was speculation in an Orlando blog that there may be a soft opening this weekend with the official opening not too far away.
We are over in a couple of weeks but I expect the lines will be horrendous.
The press event for this is on May 2nd and they normally have soft openings before that.
Also they are shooting the new Soarin video over the next few days so will want to have this running.

Apparently the official opening is 28th May. Bit late for us we come home on 23rd.
If the official day is the 28th then there are certain to be plenty of soft open days before that.

Sorry, I was disappointed! If you're seated near the front, you're halfway down the drop before it gathers speed! I think the Thunder Mountain Railroad is much, much better! However, I did think the interior of the mine was lovely. I won't add anymore about that so as not to spoil it for others.

Hazel what exactly is the ride like? I'm a real wimp when it comes to rides and if I go on something I like to know what to expect lol.
You can pm me if you want to so it doesn't spoil the surprise for anyone else.

Margaret
if you can ride thunder mountain then this is no problem
In thrill factor, it's pitched somewhere between Goofy's Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Ceri, I don't really like Thunder Mountain but I saw a video on Youtube which showed this new ride, I just like to know what to expect lol :)

I really don't think it's at all scary. I think it's a novelty that the 'trucks' sway ever so slightly from side to side, but it's not like a big roller coaster ride. I think you'd be fine, Margaret.

After queuing for 90 minutes We finally got to get on this ride. I personally, was a little disappointed on how short the ride was. You must remember however that this ride is aimed at the younger customers, I would say under 12's. The older kids would think it is rather tame! Magic Kingdom fabulous as always.
