For all those waiting for Xmas flights to become available, US airways have released them a few days early (currently up to 1st Jan) but only on the US site and paid in Dollars.

Hope of use to someone

Been checking every day, but we need to return on 3rd Jan, which isn't showing yet. Some of the search sites seem to be able to quote for the later return dates, but they look very expensive at the minute.

US Airways is usually a good bet on price - and their service is as good as any too

3rd Jan should be available early tomorrow, not on search sites only on usairways.com should be between $1000 & $1100 (£620 to £660) if you have post office credit card or similar

Except some of their flights are being handled by AA now. Used US 3 times and been very pleased but used AA once and was disappointed by the lack of seat back screens.

Thanks for the info. I've now got booked, Interestingly noticed that the flights were all available on the usairways.com site a few days before they appeared on the .co.uk version. When they initially appeared on the .co.uk portal, there was only one return option shown. When they eventually opened up all the return options, the price shot up dramatically. This morning our total flight cost was over 6K. This afternoon it was 3.6K.

We booked our flights at the same time as writing my previous post. 5 of us for approx GBP 3,600. I've been watching the same flights with interest since. A couple of days ago it would have been about 16K. (MAN PHL MCO with US Airways)

I have no idea why this should be, but strongly suspect that the reduction in number of carriers is creating an untenable situation.
