I have a guest who wants to take her husband out for a special anniversary meal but they have 2 children who will also be with them, can anyone recommend somewhere special that is child friendly but not a Disney restaurant?

Thank you

Cheesecake Factory could be suitable?

Depending on the children's ages I would suggest Seasons 52, not suitable for very young children but certainly OK for 10 upwards.

Citricos at the Grand Floridian is lovely and kid friendly.

What's the one at the top of the Reunion resort hotel which has an outdoor pool and you can see the Epcot fireworks from? I can't remeber the name of it?

Do you mean the Omni at Champions gate ?
How about Gaylords - lots for the children to see or one of the restaurants at Celebration ( that is Disney but not Disney themed) again space outside for the children to stretch their legs between courses.

I did think of the Omni but as I've not been to any of the fancy places I wasn't sure about the children, I will look into all your suggestions - thanks everyone ;)

It's called Eleven - it's a nice restaurant but not particularly child friendly.

Even though it's in a Disney hotel I think Martin's suggestion is spot on - Citricos is fab. Another on a similar vein is the California Grill in the Contemporary - there is a viewing platform to watch the MK fireworks and if they request a window table and eat around the time of the firework display you can watch the fireworks from your table, the restaurant pipes in the music and dims the lights during the display.

No it's definitely in the Reunion resort not Omni. Will bug me now till I find it, we did take a look around recently but havent eaten there although have heard good reviews. It is a cashless restaurant though so you have to pay by card.
Thanks Caroline i read yours after I'd posted.

Sunset Sams at Gaylord Palms would be nice, ask to be seated on the ship for extra novelty factor.

Really you are spoilt for choice in Florida and all restaurants we have found are child friendly but I would find out what type of food they prefer and take it from there. Emeril's at City Walk is a lovely anniversary treat but they must book as it gets very busy.

Any of the restaurants in Gaylord Palms. Really nice atmosphere and you can wander about before and after the meal. Villa de Flora would be ideal for the children as there is so much choice for them but the other restaurants in Gaylord Palms are all good.

Agree Villa de Flora. It is upmarket Buffet and plenty for the kids. You can make an evening of it just wandering around looking at all of the displays, including alligators !
