Sometimes I would like to "like" a post or comment without having to post a comment myself. Is there anyway this could be added to the forum ?

Definitely sounds like a great idea to me. I've reached for the 'Like' button a few times while browsing on this site.

Just so I'm clear what you are asking, are you saying at the moment you have to comment on a thread before being able to click the Like button at the top of the thread? I've got Admin rights on the forums so sometimes the subtleties of non-Admin user rights are not that clear.

Just underneath the "Reply To Thread" button.

I think John is referring to the FB 'Like' button

I've realised what you are referring to. It's an add-on that you can get for the forum software but it's REALLY old (last updated in 2010) and does not support the very latest version of the forum software, which we are running on (better to keep to the latest version as any possible hacking loopholes are all closed hopefully).

If they do update it at some point. I'll definitely add it to the forums here as it looks really useful, but as it stands, unfortunately, it's not a possibility.

It's been pointed out to me that a certain other forum uses the add-on, but after a quick look I see they are on quite an old version of the forum software and thus are still compatible with this old add-on.

Lyn, just under the title of each thread is a like button with a thumbs up icon. I believe that is what John is referring to and it is available without admin rights.

Maybe users are asking for a like button facility for each post unless I am mistaken.

Graham that is right, a "like" button for each individual post in the thread like you get on facebook.

Ah, a Facebook Like button on every post? That's very much do-able :(.

I'm off to a Florida for a week in the morning so could someone possibly bring this thread back up next week so my memory is jogged and I'll get it sorted when I arrive home.

It's just some new fan-dangled website, but don't worry, it won't catch on ;)

I have seen one 'like' on my FB page done by Rosie but it has come out as a blah square. When you click on the blank square it brings me to this page.

Are you able to show me a screenshot or let me have a link so I can see please? You can email it to me at john@orlandovillas.com if you'd rather not post it here.
