Car Hire

Hi

I have guests that are going to say at our villa. The lady in question wants to be able to drive but only has the old fashion pink paper driving licence will she be able to hire a car with this and her passport or will she have to get a new credit card type of licence?

Both my husband and myself only have the old style driving licences. Never had a problem hiring a car in the US

Blimey, my licence pre-dates those so it must be near prehistoric!! (I've never had a problem with car hire using it BTW)

Never have a problem and Stuart's version is more selotape than licence these days. If queried I always say only special people can have them and those with excellent driving records as we have not had to switch to a photo version. Of course I cannot move house until I am 70 but till then I do not have to worry about it expiring every 10 years and incurring a cost to renew it - which with the green (pre dates pink) version was done free of charge.
