Never flown with AA. Are they any good. What is their seating plan.

Which route and class of travel are you looking at?

AA fly from both Manchester and Heathrow to several US destinations using different aircraft with a variety of seating plans.

If you find out the type of plane you're flying on - then [Web site address does not meet site rules] is a good site to view the configuration. I have flown with them on many occasions and found them to be very good. An obvious statement - do bear in mind that they are an American crew so they tend to have a more laid back approach, tend to have a different attitude and more likely to be quite mature. :)

We fly AA in and to/from the U.S. whenever possible. They are also introducing a new extra legroom section in economy which may be good value for people wanting a little extra room without the extra cost of a business seat.

We flew back with US Airways at the weekend, and the crew were, indeed, of a 'certain' age. They are not the glamorous Virgin bimbos, but do a good job - maybe because they are simply doing their job and not worrying about having a hair out of place, or tottering about on high heels, or hitching their tight skirts up even higher! [msnwink]

I have to admit the US crew looked as if they had just got up and hadn't had time to do their hair, and their 'uniform' (can it really be described as that???) leaves a lot to be desired, but to be honest, if they do their job propererly, and they did, then I have no problem with their age. Indeed, they made me feel positively glamorous, even after a sleepless night flight! [:D]

Whilst being 'laid back' with their appearance, they were highly efficient and brought meals and drinks quickly, and constantly cleared away debris, which was a great improvement on the Virgin girls who always seem to dump the food and disappear so you sit for ages with all the 'trash' on your tray.

Our experience of AA in the past has been fine, so would not worry if the price is right!

Just looking at the moment but it was Inverness-LGW-Tampa in economy.

That won't be an AA flight but is probably them selling BA flights as a code share.

We have flown with Continental and Delta and they were brilliant. Their service throughout was good and we prefer them 100% to Virgin!

Hang on, I've just watched a Virgin Atlantic advert on TV, it says ALL their crew have special powers. Is this a misleading advert? Having never flown with Virgin Atlantic I assumed it was completely true.

We have flown with Delta, Continental, US Air & AA and found the service to be great but AA were the only ones without seat back entertainment. Don't know if thats still the case but that was the negative for us and we have not used them since.

From my experience it must be their powers to totally you for the majority of the flight

Yes it is a code share. Do they have the seat back tv's?

I haven't flown that route (it's a BA flight) but there are a fair number of OV members who have and will be able to confirm, but I understand that the answer is "Yes".

Incidentally, the same flight will be available through BA and it isn't uncommon for the fare to be different so worth checking both sites if you're going to book.

Depends on the route but there are certainly still some AA transatlantic flights without individual IFE. I do know that none of their Manchester flights have it in Economy but the vast majority of Heathrow planes (and all the 777's) do.

Ha Ha - they also say giving you the 'Rockstar" treatment.....no comment on that either!!!!!

Why was my website post not allowed - it was Seat...........??!!

The web site was not allowed because it advertises flights and cars on a rotating ad which competes with this site. Part of the T&Cs (which no one reads) when you joined the site was to agree not to post this type of site.

We know it hard to check this when you only want to help the OP so we mods just edit the post for you.

I 100 per cent respect the right of the owners of this site to edit posts in any way they wish but sometimes it's hard to understand what can or cannot be referred to. It seems perfectly OK to refer to airline sites which carry all sorts of travel offers including car hire and accomodation but others seem to be deleted almost immediately.

It must be very hard to be consistent but if you do a search for the name of the site deleted from this thread you'll find over 20 other threads where it was left untouched.

No big deal - just my 2 cents.

Couple of reasons this post stood out. The link was clickable and also the poster was someone who has a villa on this site and should know the rules.

Also the Mods pop in and out of the forum so it is easy for posts to slip by. A lot also depends on your own knowlegde of what is on other sites.

Consider myself 'told off'.

My post was to help with the enquiry - not to promote stuff on other websites....mind you what other websites don't have promotions on them??!!

By the way - I'm described as a 'Florida Newbie' on this site....I'm not - having owned since 2004 and been holidaying there for the last 20 years :)

The Florida Newbie relates to the number of posts you have made rather than how long you have been visiting or owning a villa in Florida.

The reason that most US airlines have 'mature' flight attendants on UK flights is down to Union rules that recognise seniority. Thus those with long service can request the flights they wish to crew and they take priority over junior FAs. Apparently Europe is popular because allowances are better and the schedule less demanding than internal flights.

Robert, I am not complaining! [msnwink][:D]

I actually LIKE these ladies of a certain age. When I go on an aeroplane I don't actually want to be served by a slim, attractive blonde bombshell who makes me look like an old dog. I much prefer to be served by an old dog who makes me look positively slim and glamorous.... even after a night flight! [:D]

I look like an old dog anyway so give me the blonde bombshells every time.
