First visit-and must admit a flying one. Bit disappointed with it-so wonder did we miss the best bits. Headed for the pier and marina. Nice-but nothing startling. So got into the car and drove right across town to the other side of the peninsula to Treasure Island (took about half an hour)and John's Pass. There we saw more pelicans than you could shake a stick at-I counted at least 40-and i think well worth the trip for that. There's a good collection of shops-quite a lot of tat-not quite the quality you get at Sarasota and St Almand's Quay-but you can have a mooch for half an hour.

But if anyone else has been-did I miss something.

Dali Museum is good and Sunken Gardens are worth a look.

We'd like to see the Dali Museum sometime.

Is this a day trip from Orlando or an overnight stay?

You can do it easy in a day trip, Fiona.

It took us an hour and a half Fiona-and you go over the most spectacular bridge between there and Tampa. 7 miles long at least-I wonder if going to the keys is a bit like that
We stayed in the red roof inn right on the beach at clearwater. $100 for a massive room.
