Hi all
I'm back after a long time away.
I appreciate this is a villa forum (I was once a villa owner with my dad) but my question is about transport from a Disney resort to Walmart/publix/mall etc

I have been to Orlando about 8 times but always stayed in our villa with my parents, the villa was sold a few years back and I now have my own family that I would like to take to Disney world, the problem is I don't drive! So we would stay in a Disney resort.

Getting around Disney is no problem, but how do I go about getting out of the resorts?

Any help/info would be appreciated

I think a taxi is probably the only option.

Just so you can budget for this cost you should know that taxi rates have just increased by 9% in Orlando.

You will now pay $2.40 for the first 1/4 mile and then 60 cents per 1/4 mile after that.

You also need to factor in the tip. Depending on which hotel you stay in the one way journey to the nearest WalMart is around 5 miles.

So your return trip to WalMart is going to cost you about $35 in fares and tips, and this nearest mall will be at least double this.

Maybe it would be worth looking at it from another angle. There are plenty of hotels, condos etc with free transportation to Disney and the other parks and shopping malls. Perhaps you could stay off Disney and nearer to other facilities.
We have had guests stay in our villa and use the Links buses but it is not something I would recommend.
