Its never too soon, get your count down clock set and get planning. It's too early to book flights but you can start looking around to see when the sales are on and what sort of discounts are on offer. As for the villa, you can usually book them well in advance so as soon as you have your dates, you can start to make enquiries and get the one you want booked. It is also easier to spread the costs if you pay as you go along, rather than having to pay for everything in one go. Enjoy planning, it will soon come around.

Hi Karen as Diane has said its best you secure the villa you like now and then all you need to do is wait until the flight prices are released.

Enjoy the planning as it adds to the magic of going to Orlando,

Regards, Mark.

Never too early to book your chosen villa. Then you know the villa you want and your dates are secure. Part of the excitement and pleasure is planning your holiday and definitely helps to keep the momentum high.
Good luck

As you have said, some villas do get booked well in advance and we have bookings in place for 2014. For guests booking so far in advance, we usually try and give them a few days either side so they have a little flexibility when flights are eventually released, so ask any owners of villas you are interested in if they can offer any flexibility for you. It's not always possible, especially during popular times, but if you are planning to book flights early too, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Have fun planning!

I just took a booking for Oct 2013 from guests we had stay in October and they want to know they have our home booked. It's something to plan and look forward to and snd most owners would be happy to book a few days either side until a bit nearer to the time.

We are going again in October this year and we re-booked the villa when we got back from our last holiday in 2009, it seemed like such a long time to wait but only 260 days to go now.

I dont want to put a dampner on this but one thing I would say is in todays enviroment no one knows whats going to happen in 2 years time, owners who have a villa now may come to sell it if they need to or even have no choice as we have seen with so many homes going into forclosure.

We would gladly take bookings for 2014 but i cant say for sure that in 2 years time i may have had enough of owning a villa and decide to sell it, I dont have a crystal ball to see what our situstion will be by then, by all means try and find a villa that you like and put down a deposit but always have a back up plan just in case,

Sound advice there.

I don't see any problem booking what will be over 2 years in advance but there has to be a risk that both yours and the property owner's circumstances might change over that time. Personally, I'd be looking to negotiate a minimal deposit for the time being so, if problems arise, you aren't over exposed.

thanks everyone for your responses and although disheartening to think that a villas we would have booked would no longer be owned by that person it is something i hadnt thought of.
am still going to start planning and have started my countdown clock .

It's never too early and enjoy planning. We have bookings for 2013 and given our guests some flexibility as flights have not released yet. Popular, well maintained villas do get booked early. For us personally and am sure can speak for most owners on here, we have a strong rental business and have invested heavily in our villa over the years and we have no intention of selling. Good luck in your search and welcome.

I am sure your intentions of not selling are well founded but i stand by my earlier posting in that you or I dont know whats round the corner in terms of employment, illness, relationships, air fares etc, 2 yesrs is a long time to gaurantee to someone that everything will be the same as today.

And sods law since my posting we have today taken a booking for March 2014 !!!!, like you we have no intention of selling but I just think its to far in advance but we will take their booking and hopefully they will have a great vacation in our home, as i said before Karen by all means make your plans but just maybe have a plan B up your sleeve.

You could say that about anything in life though, cash. Why put money away for a pension ... I may never be able to collect it; I don't think I'll buy a car today as I'm sure I'll be dead by tomorrow ... etc, etc, etc

While none of us can crystal ball gaze, many villas are bought and sold with reservations in place, just like any business. If the villa is sold and then not being used for rental I would expect a full refund of your deposit and any moneys paid. The problem with unexpected events in our life is that they are just that, unexpected. My villa could crumble to dust tomorrow ... so could one of the Disney hotels. The booking being in two days, two years or twenty years time will not change that. If you have issues when you have booked you have the usual means for recourse and you are always recommended to have travel insurance in place for your vacations.

So, while I don't necessarily disagree with cash and Katy's Grandad's advice, I do think it is a bit melodramatic. Sensible research and consideration of any travel plans is always advisable. Oh, and on a personal note, obviously cash isn't looking for bookings for 2014 ... however ... if you would like to book a villa ... ahem [msnwink] (hehehe - bet I get my wrists slapped for self-promotion!!).

In my view it is never too early to start planning. Enjoy looking at all the lovely villas that are available and if one takes your fancy go for it. Who knows what the future will bring. I do though know that I have eleven weeks rented out for the forseeable future from guests who have been renting our villa for years and intend to do so for as long as possible. If they are unable to come for some reason I am confident that the weeks will go to someone else.
Planning should be part of the fun and add value for money to your trip. A holiday is not just the time you are away but the time leading up to it and telling your stories and showing your photos once you get back.
