just back after our 9th visit to florida, fantasmic!! everytime we go we stay in a different villa and have never been disappointed. however we decided to re-visit some of the first villas we had rented and what a shock at the state of these communities and how sad it was to see just the odd 1 or 2 villas looking good. its rather worrying as all these communities are still widely advertised. the villa we stayed in this time was one of the older areas but the whole community was immaculate, so age cant be the problem, very sad...........

A lot of it is probably due to the economic climate, where owners have either gone into foreclosure or they simply can't afford the upkeep. Luckily, our development, Glenbrook is still looking good. It is a shame to see the downturn elsewhere.

Partly luck but also good maintenance of the resort by the HOA helps.

Agree with Mark. A strong Home Owners Association can make a big difference.

Our HOA fees are quite high in comparrison to some but we are a gated community.

The fes go towards the landscaping etc and so it's worth paying for as guests always remark on how mnice our community is

Unfortunately on all communities the economic downturn has left some homes in foreclosure and until the banks sell them on then those homes will stand empty and as they haven't paid their utilities they don't have their grass watered etc and that is what leads to the community looking tired. Luckily we have wells on our so we can still water these areas.

i must admit we found the same, we stayed in Florida Pines for the first two trips, then stayed at Terra verde for the next 3/4 we drove around to show our kids that didnt come on holiday the first time where we first stayed, to be honest we were really saddened, the grass in the gardens was looking very sad and brown, the homes didnt look as gorgeous as they once did, its a shame as some try very hard to keep their homes looking lovely but they are stuck between some that just dont seem to bother... will go for another drive when we go again in 7 weeks
