Hi, can some one let me know how I go about getting an avatar and adding it to my profile. New to this game, and would appreciate some advice. Cheers Ray[msneek].

Welcome to the Forum.
The Avatars are a giggle, aren't they?! I too had great fun picking an image I'd like to use and finding out how to install it on the Boards and you can use anything you like, as long as it's not rude!![msnwink] (I'm sure the Forum Owners will put me right, if I'm mistaken there.)

Sarah's right - as long as it's not offensive and you have permission to use the image (or the image is free) then we are happy for you to use it.

Ray,
try this
go to: http://www.animfactory.com/ and chose on eof their free gif. images. Right click on the image,click properties this will display the size of the image ( I think the max. size for a forum avatar is 100x100 anything up to this is ok.)Y ou will see the http// address for the gif listed. make a note (or copy) it.
Go to your profile on the forum site, paste the address into the avatar box(delete the http// from the box before you paste), click browse to see it, if all is ok click submit. Hope it works, let me know if there is a problem

Almost Kevin - the only problem is if you point to an image on the animation factory website they have some clever bit of software that prevents you from using the image. You have to download the image from their website and upload it somewhere else on the web (or email it to me and I'll set it up) and then link to the new location.
Cant you load a piccie from your own Pc ?? just I found an avatar that I use on another
forum and everyone says its the spitting image of me.
When I changed it once I got told off cos they all said when i posted it was like looking
at me on a cam :D:D

Thanks everyone for your replies. We chose the avatar here from a site we found and John kindly uploaded it for us, so we are now animated.

thanks for your feedback. However, I linked to a gif. from their site and as you can see my Fl. state flag is still flying!

Maybe they have removed the software that stops you linking direct to their site as we've had lots of problems with it in the past.

I`ll really have to try this, but I don`t hold out much hope. I`m not really good with things like this, but I`ll have a go. At least I know there is lots of help out there if needed.
