Think of hiring an SUV (full size - Grand Cherokee category) for the first time and will use Alamo so hopefully should have a choice of vehicle. As we have only had saloon (sedan) or mid-size SUV (Jeep Patriot) I was wondering whether there were any particular brand/model recommendations or are they all much the same?

We've always had Tahoes from Alamo - they're great, really easy to drive.

We normally hire a Grand Jeep Cherokee which I thought was in the intermediate range. It might have changed recently as this year we are hiring a 7 seater minivan. It is cheaper and I'm hoping to get one which has the seats which fold down into the floor. We are allowed 3 cases each (9 in total) so require the extra boot space.
Have you looked at the thread lower down about car hire feedback, in there DLB Gournack (apologise if I have misspelt name) has posted a link to his earlier thread which gives pictures of what he choose for Intermediate SUV hire. You might find this a help if you need extra bootspace
