We are holidaying in Florida in April [clap] and flying with USAirlines via Philidelphia. Does anybody know if I can take a portable DVD player and an assortment of DVD's in our hand luggage. We are traveling with a 5 year old and this will ease the journey for her
Thanks for your help!

Absolutely no problem at all. You might want to see if there are electric sockets on board and what type they are if you're wanting to play DVD's throughout the flight.

Yes of course. if you check the website of US Airways, it will usually state what films and[msnsmile] cartoon programmes they have available on your flight.

Hi Karen,
If you take a look at the charger for your DVD player it might well be a universal voltage type one, in the way most mobile phone ones are. No guarantees but it's worth checking.
If it says something like the input voltage being OK from 110 - 240V, 50 - 60Hz then you should be fine using your UK charger over in the US. All you'll need is a US (2 pin) to UK (3 pin) adaptor.

I'd take enough batteries to last the journey. There's no problem with using personal stereos etc on board. They can be used whenever the seat belt sign is not lit.
If you're travelling cattle class then I doubt that you will have the facility to recharge your electrical equipment.
Sometimes the seat back screen does not work and a portable dvd player is handed out.

US Airways operate A-330-300's which should have power points in most if not all seats. You'd be best advised to ask them what kind of adaptors they have because they do vary from airline to airline and from aircraft to aircraft. Alternatively, somebody on here who has flown with them might help.
I must say I've never come across the rule that you can't use them when the seat belt sign is on - only during take-off and landing.

[msnembarrased] That's what I meant to say - take off and landing - but had a mental block at the time.
Years since I flew with an American airline, Pan Am, so can't help any further.
