Just recieved a letter from my holiday company to say they are charging an extra £14 each due to the airline increasing their tax. That's an extra £70...[msncry]On top of that the holiday company are chucking an extra £1 per person for the admionistration of collecting the increase in tax...unbelievable.[msnmad]

Is it the airline increasing the tax or the extra VAT?

Oh no - who are you flying with?

Wonder if it is a fuel duty surcharge - did see some of the cruise lines have reintroduced fuel duty surcharges for cruises this summer. Will also be interested to know which airline it is and would also ask for clarification as to what tax they are increasing.
Not impressed with the holiday company adding £1 for administration costs - which holiday company is it?

Air Passenger Duty went up in November 2010 and if you booked your flights before then the airline will be required to pay that to HMRC and are entitled to go to you to cough up for it. In the past some airlines have stood the cost themselves but that approach seems to be rare now.
Having said that, APD went up by £15 not £14 so I'm not exactly clear what it is.
If you've paid in full, then i don't think they can do this.
