Hi due to fly this sunday, flying from Gatwick to tampa via charlotte and was wondering does my luggage go straight through to tampa or do I have to pick it up a charlotte and re check it to tampa ?. Also US airways say theres a size limit on cases but I can't find out what this size is on their website. All help welcome.
I found this information on their website - it was under baggage policy
carry on baggage size - Up to 45 in/115 cm (14 x 9 x 22 in or 36 x 23 x 56 cm)
checked luggage - $100 extra for bags larger than 62 in/157 cm - I think this means overall size ie length + width + height, though it doesn't state actual measurements.

All luggage has to clear Customs on first point of entry, regardless of carrier or final destination. So you will need to collect your luggage, take it through Customs, and recheck it in for the Tampa flight.
On the way back, you should be able to check it right through to Gatwick.
