View Full Version : So very proud
Just wanted to share with you the great news about my son .... He got his A level results yesterday and he got two B's and a C which is absolutely fantastic. He is a bit disappointed because he didn't get the grades for his first choice uni but he got his insurance choice, which is amazing, he studied so hard for his A levels and I am so very proud of him.
A lot has been said in the media about A levels being too easy this year, but I can say from our experience they were most certainly not, and the fact that all the results that were opened live on TV yesterday were all A's and A*'s would portray that myth.
I am a very proud mum at the moment ....

Well done to your daughter Gail, [clap][clap] B's are fantastic, Gregory didn't think that his 2 B's and C were good enough either, there were lots of tears all round yesterday as we tried to convince him that they were fantastic grades. I do think so much is made of A* and A grades it just puts so much more added pressure on the students that don't achieve those grades.
Congratulations to your son Wendy, and we wish him well at university. It is just as hard seeing them off to uni at the start of the first term as it is when they start primary school. What degree is he reading?
Gail have they changed the system with AS levels? When Robert was at school you could resit parts of them if you were not happy with the overall result both during and at the end of the first year. We knew some children when they got their results put in for resits to try and get grades up and to increase the chance of getting a higher grade A level at the end of 2 years.
The pressure is very heavy on our youngsters to get good grades and even those who get the grades are not always successful. Robert had a very good set of GCSE grades and 5 AS levels at A grade which when he applied during year 12 were expected to convert to A grades and even in school year 2004/5 he could not get an interview to read medicine. In the end he read Chemistry and has just finished the first year of his PhD in chemistry as he is still not sure what he wants to do.

your so right Wendy
sounds like you had the same day as me yesterday ,[msnsmile]Thank you everyone for your replies
everything looks a lot brighter today ,Taking her out shopping today always helps [clap][clap]
Congratulations to all the kids whatever grades they got. It is a lot of pressure and the media should not try and make anyone with less than an A grade feel unsuccessful.

Congratulations to your son Wendy. You must be very proud parents
Wendy I hope he enjoys his course I think there are lot of youngsters who do not know what they want to do when they finish university but at least he is doing a subject which will lead to a variety of careers.
Congratulations on your kids' brilliant results Wendy and Gail.
