Where on the gulf coast?

In the planning stages for next August! We have stayed on Captiva and Marco Islands previously, and would like to replicate that feel if possible somewhere new.

We want to be close enough to Fort Lauderdale to possibly do a short cruise.

I like olde worlde Florida, So here are our wants!!

Waterfront,
close to a beach
walkable to restaurants/shops
Fishing available
Pref key west type of house/villa with balconies(!!)

We will fly into orlando and do a few days there tehn down to the gulf.

Any chance of achieving all the above away from the areas we have been where we had all that.

As you've posted on the Gulf Coast forum can we assume that's where you need to be? As you are no doubt already aware, all the Gulf resorts are quite a way from Fort Lauderdale.

Judging by your wants, I'd suggest Anna Maria Island as a possibility.

I meant with relatively easy access to FL. I looked at Anna Maria Island last time, but found a better fit with a villa on Marco Island, and we never managed to get to see anna maria island. I will have look what is availablke there.
