We were one of the lucky/unlucky, depending on your point of view, families that got caught up in the volcano delays. Now we are back home I felt I had to comment on the outstanding service we received from US CarHire, Roger managed to get us a car with less than 24 hours notice and the whole transaction was carried out so quickly and painlessly it made a very stressful time a lot easier to cope with - just wish the airlines were so easy!
Also worthy of a mention was the lovely guy in the car park at MCO that worked for Alamo - we booked a full size for the extended part of our trip as 2 out of our 3 'kids' had managed to get home we didn't need the 4x4. We trotted into the car park clutching our voucher and were directed to a row of about 30 cars, hubby & daughter had their hearts set on a Dodge Charger so we dutifully trawled the line but the only Charger (silver - hubby's most hated colour) already had a family loading luggage into it. They were gutted and went back down the line looking for an alternative, I was fed up so stayed next to a 'pretty gold car' (no idea what it was!) and waited for them to either find a Charger or get in the 'pretty gold car' - enter the helpful Alamo guy! He asked if I was OK and I explained that I was just waiting for hubby and daughter to decide which car they wanted, jokingly I said they were looking for a prettier colour, he asked what colour they wanted so I explained they really wanted a Charger.
He said stay there and I'll see what I can do.... 30 seconds later he pulled round in a lovely dark metallic red (hubby's favourite colour!!) Charger[msnsmile2]
