OK, thinking ahead here. I am aware that BA amongst others have reduced their free baggage allowance to 1 bag (23 kg) in World Traveller class.

Now we all know that one bag is not a lot of use, and reading BA's baggage allowance policy, I could buy a second bag in Florida and spend $48 extra baggage allowance to bring it back. As far as I can see, the extra bag is limited by size, I can't find any mention of weight for the return journey. Would my interpretation of BA's policy be correct?

At $48 for an extra bag, I will still save heaps on my purchases.

Cheers

Sadly, your interpretation that an extra suitcase is only limited by size is not correct. It still carries the 23 kg weight limit. On the website it says 'Charges per additional bag up to 23kg' at the top of the box with the charges listed.

We returned with BA at the end of February with an extra bag. We were charged $60 at the airport (MCO). If you do online check in then you will be charged less for an extra suitcase - $48. However, the weight limit for the suitcase is exactly the same as any other suitcase - 23kg. [msnsad]

Oh Ellie, do you not carry your laptop. You can still 'buy' the extra allowance online when you get to the airport (at the reduced price).
Airlines are no longer allowing you to take extra free, but at £35 for an extra piece, it is still worth shopping in Florida in my opinion [msnwink] At least BA don't weigh your hand luggage, so a good workout at the gym to give you the muscles to lift it into the overhead locker and all the light stuff squashed in the suitcase...
