Hi, I've just changed from a paper driving licence to the photocard licence.

When I received the photocard I also got a counterpart licence. Do I have to take the counterpart licence with me to Florida?

Thanks

Yes you do, the car rental firm may want to see it,i think they ask for it to be taken although i have never had to show them mine yet.

According to the DVLC, neither part is legal without the other, so in theory you always carry both parts. I have the photocard in my wallet, but I never carry the counterpart, unless I am renting a car. Even then, the only people who have ever asked to see it are car rental companies in the UK. I don't believe that outside the UK they even know the counterpart section exists - none of the other European driving licences have this. In the USA I have never been asked for it, but as Dave says, better safe than sorry.

Same here, I always take the paper copy but have never been asked for it!
