Hi all,
my family and I are looking to go in August this year. :D we have had an incredibly hard year but are coming out of it [msnsmile2] eventually! unfortunately I have put on weight. [msnembarrased] I have just short of 4 months to lose 3 stone! [msnembarrased] I am not a massive man by any means, I am six feet six inches tall and I carry my weight well. I just want to feel better about myself for my trip to the sunshine state. [msncool] I have been to Orlando 3 times before and I refuse to go this heavy.[msnmad] I have just re-joined the gym [msnsmile2] and am absolutely determined to re-visit in prime condition. so I propose to use this website as my crutch. my refuge in my battle against the bulge. thank you kind people of this fantasitic forum. (in advance) hopefully I might indulge anyone interested enough with my struggle! [bowwave]

I'll join you if you like..I had to take pain killers that have made me put on weight...and this time it is no falling off when I cut down on them...
I was running about 4 miles plus a day on my exerciser before I went to FL last month but I came home very sick so I give up this last week I plan to walk a lot now we have no snow or wind..
My family keep saying they will join me..but I know they'll not..I used to body build before I broke my neck so I know I'm up to hard training..I've just got lazy so maybe you could push me ...:D

Hi Chizzy,
I got lazy big time. [xx(] I used to run 6 miles 3 times a week. hopefully I can get back to that. I need and want so much to get back to that. bring on the pain[}:)]
I will support you as well, I am a member of slimming world and have lost 3 stone 4 pounds so far but I am REALLY struggling at the moment[msncry] so any support would be fantastic - I know what a struggle losing weight is and if only we could lose it as quickly as we put it on ..... So my support is there for you. Keep in touch.[msnsmile2]

I will be there too. I seriously need to lose a stone and tone up ready for nice weather and a trip to Singapore to visit my daughter.
The more I decide I am going to eat healthy, get excercise the more I seem to eat the wrong things and feel lazy.
Go team and we will all look good in a few months [msnsmile2]

Thanks Wendy,
Any support is fantastic and totally appreciated
[msnsmile] it is hard (really hard) keep up the good fight Wendy we can lean on each other and compare our struggles [msnwink]
I'm with you as well, I have never been as heavy as I am now, I look in the mirror and do NOT like what I see. I joined Rosemary Conley last week, have lost 3.1/2lb in the first week.
I am finding the Go Lower diet wonderful- great food, no hunger, and being high protein/fibre/low carb, gives you a sleeker look quicker -have had to cancel my Easter Hols to Florida due to some flood damage in the house and lots of other problems, so I need to get fighting fit for my next trip in July!!!
Keep it up Al, and everyone- its not easy, but its worth it- shall we adopt the L'oreal saying :)
And yet another one who has lost the plot and the willpower to diet yet again!!! I have never been so heavy and am only 5' but just can't seem to get started again.
What is the Go Lower diet?
I did SW and lost over 2 stone but I have put it all back on due to continual attendance at banquets, dinners etc for the past 2 years. I just need to get motivated, even walking leaves me out of breath![msnembarrased]
Hope this thread will do it for me[msncool]

I am with you also. Like Sandra l lost nearly 3 stone with SW and have put it all back on again. Finding it really hard to get started again. Do you think I can lose 3 stone in 3 weeks LOL !
Thursday night is weight in night for me at SW and this week I put on half a pound, but in my defence I have been out for 4 meals this week, honestly, meals are like buses, none for ages then 4 come along all at once... I did a food diary so that has made me control myself somewhat but I need to get a grip so that is 3st 3 1/2lbs lost. Wish me luck this week.....

Its a weird thing guys. we all know what we want to achieve and what we need to do to get there! I first went to floida in 2006 and for the following 2 years, (am praying we can go this year!) (definitely next year!) I have to go, how I looked in 2006. for the complete stranger I dont look noticably (totally) different. I am just not happy in my clothes and am not happy in my appearence. to the outside person its not a big deal, but to me its everything. lets stick together guys and we can achieve anything. [msncool] I refuse to re-visit the sunshine state in the wrong frame of mind.:( I am wearing my hunger like a badge of achivement in weight loss. everytime I feel hungry I think of my badge that will make me feel happier:D stay strong Wendy I am with you every step of the way [msnwink]
Because I am going to Rosemary Conley and will get weighed each week I am sticking to it (at the moment)[msnembarrased] but when I don't lose anything I know from past experience I will find it very hard to stick to. I have been on a diet on and of for the past 35 years[msnscared] I lose a stone but then I put on 1.1/2 stone, I'm not a snacker but I love cheese and pies and anything high fat really[msntongue]

I think I am going to rejoin a class as I just can't do it on my own. Just trying to decide whether to stick with Slimming World or give WW another try? 3 weeks today we are off to Florida so I would like to lose a few pounds before then just to make me feel a BIT better.
We are having a weekly weigh in at work 2 girls and 4 men and of course the men are doing so much better as usual! We started this in January and to date I have only lost 4 pounds very disappointing!
The badge thing is a good idea I might try that. My sister used to say when she was hungry she just imagined the hunger eating all the fat. Good luck all[msnsmile2]
Another vote for SW, have been doing it on and off for 5 years with illness in between. 2½ stone off so far, more to go, but I find the extra easy works best for my and fits in best with family life.
I can't seem to take to extra easy, I am so used to having green days and 2 a's and b's I can't do without the extra healthy extras, so I do the occasional EE but mainly stick to green days.
Forgot to say my eldest has lost 3+ stone and is looking fantastic! She's also done EE.

On the edge of booking for late August! (possibly today) :D:D have 3 stone to lose by August 16!!! easy peasy! [msnwink] my wife and I are re-joinging the gym ASAP. she drives me crazy! she looks incredible and moans about her non excistant huge hips! :( I have drunk 1 too many beers and it's starting to go south in my middle age. :D I have my motivation now. I feel really positive. [msnwink] I am quite lucky in as much as that I absolutely love running. now I have my motivation I cannot envisage failure! :D stay strong guys and stay in touch. everytime I start to wobble I will come on here and post something as a way of taking my mind off my struggle!!! :D good luck all and never ever give up

good to see so many trying.... im really sad... i have put on yet another stone with dam medication to blame.... sadly tho now i have been accepted by a dr at kings college for a gastric bypass.... i urgently need to get the weight off my legs....as some of u may know i had a replacement knee done in 2007... which has now rendered me as disabled... the joints are all far worse now....im so scared of our forthcoming trip to florida in 40 days..... RE the flights the seats have always been tight... now with the extra weight ive gained its gonna be unbearable.... so by reading what others are doing may help me to shed half a stone over the next few weeks.....

I don't post very often but felt compelled to encourage you all in your quest. After years of yo yo dieting, more ups heavy times than not if you know what I mean. I have had 3 trips to florida feeling too heavy, not confident etc etc. Last June, I decided enough was enough. I'm lucky enough to own a treadmill and have it in the house so its not out of sight out of mind! The key for me was to think about what I could fit in with my busy life, 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, husband, full time job etc. I decided to extend my day for running by getting up at 5.30 each weekday to run on the treadmill. (I can hear you all saying urrgh! but once you're up its fine - honestly) It set me up for the day, I would run for 50 minutes, about 8K with warm up and cool down. It was a struggle at first but got used to it with mind over matter. It just became my routine. With the effort of the exercise, I didn't want to waste all that effort and eat rubbish so I started to have porridge for breakfast, salad or homemade soups for lunch, salmon or chicken and veg for tea. Sorry to waffle, but basicaly the result was for the first week I lost 5lb, then the first stone in 4 weeks, the second stone 5 weeks later, and after 20 weeks I had lost 4 and a half stone. I lost either 2 or 3lb every week which was amazing for me! I have managed to maintain this since christmas which is actually harder than losing the weight in the first place.
I'm actually desperate to get back to florida with my new shape and confidence. I'm working like a trojan but not getting anywhere, so it's not going to happen anytime soon, but when it does, I'll be ready with my bikini (sorry florida!).
My point is that you have to do it for you, make it fit with your lifestyle and it has to be sustainable, I now run 3 times a week and its fine.
Just keep going, stay positive and the best of luck to every one of you with your weight loss journey!

wow!!
I started this original thread and I am overwhelmed by everybody's support and participation. i am doing well also. lost approx 4lbs in a week. I'm not as scientific as you guys. I know if I don't over eat and stop eating rubbish I will lose weight. I have done it that way all my life and it's always worked. the only reason I put the weight back on is I actually wanted to eat all the rubbish and drink the beer :D i'm re-joining the gym as soon as the kids finish half term! can't wait i'm actually buzzing![msnsmile2] for my inspiration I look at my holiday itinerary. we are going to Typhoon Lagoon on the 2nd day! <blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:[i]What is the Go Lower diet?
Sandra[/quote]There is a web site golower.co.uk. Its a very healthy diet with excellent weight loss. You get all meals provided. Cereal with berries and yoghurt for breakfast - gorgeous soups or meats and salads for lunch, choc raspberries, choc brazils and stuff for snacks, nut and coconut bar snax, and lovely evening meals like Chillis, curries, beef bourgninon, chicken breton etc- it really works, and you have nutritionalists on hand to help. Can't fault it.

Keep going Liesa, never give up. weight loss (or trying to) is probably the most mystifying thing on this planet! [msnoo] some weeks you work your butt off and eat enough to barely keep a sparrow alive! then you look down at the scales and they have the audasity to actually go the wrong way!!![msnmad] then other weeks you feel like you have let youfself go and you make good in-roads! (steve's story!) its a total head scratcher? I have been trying (properly) now for 10 days! I have lost 5lbs. have a minimum of 2 more stone in 3 and a little bit months. finally got around to re-joining the gym today! what with work commitments and half term just have not had the time. kids are back to school soon and I am gonna run my butt off for 3 months! wish me luck folks. stay strong everybody. its a piece of cake (literally speaking [msnwink])

Well done everyone you all sound so positive, I know how disheartened you must feel this week Liesa, that is how I felt last week - I have to keep thinking to myself that I am 3 stone 4 lbs lighter and not 3 stone heavier, I am hoping that once the kids go back to school and college and DH goes back to work I can get my head back in the zone ... for me it is not the eating that is the problem so much, it is the lack of exercise, don't get me wrong I don't sit on my backside all day I am on the go all the time just not doing the right sort of exercise.
I wish it was as easy to lose the weight as to put it on.
Wendy I am like you, never still, but no time to go to gym!

Liesa, when I went to Florida in 2006 I was at my heaviest and I had a really embarrassing time with the airline seats [msnembarrased] but when we went last October I could sit in the seats AND I got the seatbelt done up and I took it in a bit too which I felt was a really big achievement so hopefully you will find the weight you have lost so far will make that little bit of a difference for you - I hope so.

Wow Lyn, well done. I have dropped 3lbs myself this week -great feeling- you were all getting me motivated lol
Getting motivated is a problem, staying motivated now that's really hard, this site helps and the thought of not looking like a beached whale when I go in the sea at Fort Myers in November.
You're all doing so well[msnsmile]
Wish I was. Whatever I try doesn't seem to shift the pounds and I've never been heavier than now. Haven't tried WW but SW didn't suit me at all. I've tried loads of diets and nothing seems to work. I've existed for the last three weeks on 1400 calories a day, am eating loads of fruit and veg, nothing sugary, one slice of bread per day etc etc, but still have only lost 4 pounds in that time.
Think I'll save for surgery, it's my only answer.:(

I got a pair of those exercise shoes....been walking an hour a day no diet and my jeans are falling off..I've been on pills on and off for the pain after I broke my neck..they make you gain weight something wicked..I got into a pair of jeans the other day I's not worn for years..I'm not really into dieting because my problem for years was being too skinny..I like being bigger but I think I've gone a little over what is healthy..maybe more than a little if honest..[msnembarrased]
Karen if it helps I am on 1200 calories a day of nothing over 5% fat per 100g.(you can have oily fish or meat) + 100 Calories of either higher fat or wine (quess which I have[party1]

My wife has just been diagnosed as border line diabetic. So we are on a diabetic diet. Of course I'm supporting her. And I'm losing weight with her! It's great! My XL shirts are starting to fit!
It's much easier to stick to a diet of any sort if your partner supports you. I hope the dieting works for your wife and she doesn't need medication.
Just been weighed lost another 2lb only 12lb to go:)
Very well done Lyn keep going and you will be there before you know it.[clap][clap]
I hope I can make it before we go to Florida at the end of October.:)
Is no one dieting any more? Am I the only one left trying to lose weight [msnsad]

Hiya im still trying but its so hard to get back into.... Steve and i both put on 2lbs at WW but for 3 weeks in the sun with loads of yummy foods and drinks..... that was really good.... having tests in londons kings next week for ongoing stomach probs ive had since feb and probably before, been accepted for gastric bypass and hoping to have that within the next 12 months.... my joints suffering to much under this weight... but am still prepared to give it a good shot to help out..... weighin tomorrow evening xx fingers crossed, but feel a bit disheartened this week... need a good kick up the butt!!
keep going all xxx
We can boost each other Liesa. If you only put 2lb on in Florida that was really good. It takesa lot of effort to get back on track after a holiday. Hope the weigh in tomorrow goes well.
Hi everyone,
Haven't been on this thread for a while because I lost my way diet wise, life is a bit stressful at the mo, those who know me know I have 3 children, 2 of which have serious illnesses which require lots of hospital visits, and I do tend to comfort eat when I am stressed, BUT I did go back to Slimming World last night and stayed to class and hopefully after giving myself a swift talking to and lots of support from my fellow members I am hopefully going to be back on track, I have had a good day today but I think that is due to the fact that last week I broke one of my teeth in half and today I had 2 pins inserted into my jaw bone and then had the tooth rebuilt (that was an expensive packet of crisps !!) so I have only eaten soup today !
I tell you, you couldn't make my life up, really !!
I NEED motivation guys ........ motivate me please ....

im kindof losing my way slightly Wendy... your not alone!!!!
ashamedly i guess thats why i didnt tell u.... i put on again 1 1/2lbs... not drastic but i desperately dont want to put anything on... we are trying a lot harder this week even tho Steve lost 2lbs.... i hate him sometimes!!![msnwink] its all what i do for him and he loses it and i dont!!!, still we bought some WW scales, they are really helpful they tell you the points for certain items.... like i was doing Steves sandwiches each day... cheese... he puts them in the sandwich toaster at work...i was guessing the cheese... calculating 4-6 points.... ooops they were 9 points!! yet he still lost weight!!!
being very good, mind u we had a bag of toffee clusters last night a big bag.... well its the first time in ages we have had choc and we couldnt stop once we started!!!:D so being even better!!!
hows everyone else doing??
Hi Wendy
I know it's not easy, we all turn to food in times of stress, but keep positive and we will be here to help in any way we can.

Well done Wendy, a little at a time is the way to lose it and keep it of I think. I went away with good intentions but the Sangria and the french bread and cheese won I'm afraid[msnwink] Oh well back now and hope to get back on track.

I'm coming into this quite late. I've been dieting for 10 weeks+ now and I've lost 26lbs. I want to lose another 5lbs by August 25th (the day I go to Florida), so hopefully I'll be able to achieve that.
You've all done very well by the way!!
My word Lyn, that is a really good loss considering you haven't been weighed for 4 weeks, very well done.
Welcome Chris to the OV Fat Club [msnwink] 26lbs in 10 weeks is fantastic.
I haven't been well for the last 8 or so weeks and I am on steriods and antibiotics for a lung problem so my weight loss is non existent at the moment, but I am going to class this week, although I am dreading it ....
Well done Chris 26lbs in 10 weeks is fantastic. Hopefully you will have no problem losing the extra 5lb before you go to Florida.
Wendy being on medication especially steriods is a nightmare for trying to keep the weight off. If you can maintain the weight you are, or lose just a small amount you should be proud of yourself.
I'm doing the Race for Life on Sunday (only walking it though) so that should help the excersize levels.

Well done Wendy. I've been away for a few days so only just seen your post. I've put about 3lb on whilst away[msnsad]
That's not bad Lyn, I have put on 3lbs before just being at home .....let alone being on holiday
Just been weighed lost 2lb a total now of 2 stone. Would still like to lose another 3 or 4lb so I have a little to play with when I go away. 5 weeks in Florida at the end of October won't do the waistline much good[cheers][ihop][drinkpepsi][drinkbeer]
