Nice to see a good deal from Manchester at last. Using Skyscanner, able to get out 24th April, returning 8th May with Thomas Cook for £279 each.

Very good deal at the moment. I'm finding fares as a whole to be way above what I'm used to paying.

There are some good fares with them from Birmingham too. We have used them before and I would rate them better than Virgin.

The only thing to bear in mind is that the price does not include meals and drinks. We generally buy a meal deal either onboard or from Boots airside.

Virgin never seem short of customers though, not out of Manchester anyway. I've never seen a decent deal yet with them.

Does the price include baggage charges?

Does anybody have any advice for flights from Chicago? I've been seeing nothing but outrageous prices lately. I don't fly very often but it sure beats a 20 hour drive. It would be nice to save a few pennies and a lot of frustration.

Have you tried Southwest? I just checked and found a round trip ticket from Midway to Tampa or Orlando in August for $326 all taxes inc. (2 bags free). Pretty good price IMHO.

Thomson Fly have just reduced their seat pitch from 33" to 29" on all these flights, be prepared to have your knees wrapped around your ears for 9 hours, that's why they are so cheap.

Virgin have reduced their flights to the USA in 2011 which is why they are able to demand high prices.

Makuk, are you a travel agent as you seem to know a lot about the airlines which could be useful[msnwink]

Don`t care were they are wrapped as long as it get`s me to Florida.[msnsmile2]. Paying this price means I get two or even three trips instead of one and I can live with that.

That is a good price. When we were looking (August only) dates varied £800 - £900. If we could have found that sort of price I would be very happy too[msnwink]

Yes, our two finish school 8th July which is much earler than State schools.

I was looking at 19th July but they went up overnight.

I found these this morning and booked straight away.

Just booked with Virgin [xx(] but they were the cheapest I could find. Nov24th to Dec8th, £413 each

Rang them about bulkhead seating for special needs and of course all bulkhead seats have fixed armrests which means I'll be coming back with a couple of nice 20cm bruises on both hips again [msnsad]

Strange thing was they were saying I could buy the extra legroom seats which had moveable armrests, everyone I know who's had them (and according to everything I can find online) they don't as they are bulkhead/exit row.

One good thing, managed to get a reasonable ecxhange rate for some $$s, 1.5677 at my local cheque centre shop, PO was 1.56 online but 1.49 at the postie, Travelex etc. 1.563

Bulkhead seats definately do not have removable arm rests as this is where the trays are kept, also due to this fact they tend to be a little big more snug if you are on the larger side.

At 6' 6" I am def. on the larger side :)

Problem is I fly with my son who is Autistic and hates anyone sat in front of him. And being 6' 3" and insisting on wearing his 3/4 length black leather coat he's also a bit on the large side :)

When we last used Virgin in 2008 we had the same problem, thought it was just me but another few people were also having trouble with the lack of seat width, one couple had been on the same aircraft (Liberty Belle?) a few weeks before in the same seats and they found them smaller that time.

I did consider upgrading to PE but it would double the price and from what I've heard the only advantage is the seat legroom/width and an extra case. It's the same appaling meal as economy which was also fun in 2008, 3 flight crew went down on the way over, one had to be took off on a stretcher at MCO.

We've been mainly using First Choice Premiere since then and have managed to get some really good prices, used Martinair via Amsterdam last October in Comfort Class, not bad but don't book the window seats as they don't have the extra legroom, only the centre seats.
