Has the US27 got the same things as the 192? Plenty shops, eating places? Is it as busy as the 192? which I found to be a bit too busy!

Hi Shona,

The 27 is much more spread out than the 192, and does not have the same concentration of shops and restaurants. Having said that, there is plenty of choice on the 27. Overall, I would say that the 192 is quite commercial, and the 27 is more residential. Along the 192, you will find pockets of shops, restaurants etc., and on the 27 it is more spread out. The 192 can become a little congested at times, but traffic on the 27 moves more freely and faster.

On the whole, if you found the 192 to be a bit too busy, then I would say that the 27 would suit you better.

I hope this helps[msnsmile]

US27 is definitely much quieter. From Clermont to Davenport it is predominantly villa communities with restaurants scattered about. Personally the 192 is too busy for me - but great to visit for the choice of restaurants. If you are looking at villas down US27, depending on their location, you also have the advantage you can avoid the congested 192 when travelling to the parks, using I4 instead. There are plenty of places to eat on US27 but fewer than 192. The 27 has Applebees, one of my favourites, so that keeps me happy.

The 27 now has Posner Park as well. At the moment it is mainly shops and a couple of snack eating places. But eventually it should have cinemas and restaurants.
We have a home on the 27 and the only time we visit the 192 is for our annual visit to Olive Garden. Thats the only restaurant I cant find within a 10 minute drive.
I remeber staying in a hotel on the 192 once and it drove us crazy as if you get the lights wrong you can only do a cuple of hundered meters without having to keep stopping.

Christine - you do know there's a new Olive Garden now at the 27 end of 192? It's pretty much next to the junction with the 429, so you should be able to do it within 10 mins. It's right next to the Longhorn Steakhouse - another excellent place to eat IMHO.

It's not because we own on I27 ... but we much prefer this area than the 192 (heum-heum )
all along I27 has a lot of new centers with restaurants, walmart, Lowe's (our favourite !!!)
It's quieter but you still have everything at finger touch ... so I27 have all our votes !:D

And if you want to combine shopping with a trip to Olive Garden, why not pop down to Lakeland Square Mall, around 25 minutes, but again much quieter than the tourist spots

We visited someone staying along the 27 and hated it, would never stay there. It all boils down to personal choice. We stay within a 2 minute drive of the 192, it is so quiet and peaceful were we stay but close to the hussle and bustle, perfect combination in our eyes.

We own on Lindfields which is on the 192 at the 27 end and we rarely drive on the 192 as if we want to go to Disney say, we can drive along Funie Stead Road and just turn off and cross the 192 and then into Disney via Sherberth Road. We can also go to the Olive Garden and Longhorn Restaurants by driving along the quiet part of the 192 so it is an ideal area to own a home. We are also close to the 429 which takes up to Winter Garden to the Mall there or we can drive just 2 miles to the 27 and drive south to Pozner Park. To us Lindfields is the ideal area to live. But then we are predjudiced.

Like the 192, H27 is quite long and varied. It is quieter than the commercial 192, but many owners and guests like that.

If you use Sherbeth Road to come back from Disney or Universal (using Osceola Parkway) you'll pass most of the well known restaurants such as TGFI, Carabbas, Cracker Barrel, Longhorns, Olive Garden, Houlihans. On H27 near my community is Santa Fe Steak House, Chillis, Applebees and many independent eateries. We often go north on H27 to go to some quieter restaurants used by 'local' restaurants. Supermarkets are abundant too - Super Target, Publix, Wal-Mart, Sweetbay as well as Walgreens and CVS.

South on H27 is Posner Park and there is another shopping mall close by just off the 429.

192 seems much busier than the 27. Our home is just off the 192 towards the I4, so not right down the 192. It depends where you stay in Kissimmee to be honest, we're right on the 192 but rarely use it and it is quiet where we are. 27 as everyone has said is much more residential and spread out but I think everything you need is in driving distance down there.

Could someone please confirm for me - is the 27 that you refer to the road running North-South and the west end of the 192 sort of T's with it? I've never explored round there, might be somewhere new to take a look at.

Yes - it is US27, which crosses I-4 at Posner Park, and goes north past the end of 192 and up to Winter Garden

I can't see there being much to hate about 192 or 27...I may find 192 to busy for me..but I don't hate it...it seems a silly thing to say

Stayed at Windsor Palms in 2008 which is off Formosa Gardens Boulevard, 3 minutes from the 192 down past the Outback Steakhouse.

This year we stayed on Highlands Reserve which is on the US27.

My opinion, nice to be out of the hustle and bustle but after 3 or 4 days i realised that pretty much everywhere we wanted to go meant driving on or near the 192 at some stage. Whether it be to go out for breakfast, head to a park, go out for dinner, gift shops...... We used the 192 so much i will be looking around there next time and not the US27. Granted, we used the I4 a lot but that crosses the 192.

Another place i seemed to pass regularly was just north of the 192 on the I4.

During our fortnight in Jan at West Stonebridge this year we only hit the 192 twice the whole time. I avoid it as the traffic lights can delay things. From 27 Sth of 192, getting to the parks is much quicker via marker 55 or 58 on I4 than 192. That being said, I would happily holiday in a villa in either area. The western end of 192 is getting good with Olive Garden, Longhorn, Houlihans etc.

There is a Starbucks in the Target store at Posner Park on the US27 - much too tempting after shopping!!

Stayed in windsor hills last may, its near formosa gardens on the west side of the 192. Have to say it was perfect, lots of restaurants and things. three sets of traffic lights and was on the I4. Agree with everyone about the east side of the 192, far to many traffic lights. Never been down the 27 so can't say anything about it.

LOL I can set off from Southern Dunes stop at Target and JC Penny's at Posner Park and get a coffee to help me finish the journey up to Cagans Crossing to a shop I need and then get a top up for my return journey. Will certainly take the stress out of shopping.

Sounds like an excellent plan Jill, don't forget the banana & walnut bread, you'll need to keep your strength up [msnwink]

Jill

Caroline, not likely to forget banana and walnut bread on the way up as that and the coffee will give me the energy I need for shopping (not my favourite activity) and the coffee on the way back will relieve the stress.

Hi,

seems Aldi will open soon on I27...
Do someone know where exactly ?

Thank you

Jill
14-03-2010, 00:39
According to the Aldi site it is already open. It is just south of the Old Polk City Road (next set of traffic lights to the south of Southern Dunes) and is on the same side of the road as Manny's.

There is an Aldi supermarket on the 27. It is on the right, just before you reach Haines City, if you are travelling south.

When we were last over in August it looked like a new restaurant was being built on H27 in front of Lowes or thereabouts. Does anyone know what it is??

Just had a look at the menu - pleased to see they are using gummy worms in the dirt pie - would hate to see any real worms harmed in the making of the pie!
