View Full Version : COMMUNITIES CLOSE TO INDIAN RIDGE - ADVICE
Hi all
I am looking into going to Florida with my family in late aug/early sept. We are wanting to be close to everything, so a friend of mine has recomended the Indian Ridge development. What other developments should I be looking at which are close to this eg within 2 miles.
Also, We are a party of 4 looking for a 3/4 bed villa, and out budget is towards the lower end of the market. Are there any developments which are generally cheaper than others for whatever reason.
Many Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forum, you will find plenty of impartial advice on here which will be really helpfull for oyur exciting trip, 18 years ago it was our one holiday of a lifetime but once was never enough.
Indian Ridge is part of the Formosa Gardens subdivision of five estates, Indian Ridge,Rolling Hills,Formosa Gardens Estate,Oak Island Harbor and Oak Island Cove.
All these estates are within approx three miles to disney, two minutes drive to shops, restaurants, atm, medical centre etc.
Other estates just slightly further than Indian Ridge are Windsor Hills.Emerald Island,Sunset Lakes and Linfields. So plenty of choice.
There are ample 3/4 bedroom homes on most of these estates, just one word of warning though do not pick a villa simply on price, make sure it has everything you need, don't try and save a couple of hundred pounds and be dissapointed.
Have a great time in Florida, we fly out in 8 weeks ourselves.

Eric I think you are mixing Indian Ridge with Indian Creek - It's Indian Creek that is at Formosa Gardens.
Indian Ridge is not part of the Formosa Gardens Estates, but now they have opened up Sand Hill Road you can access Disney through the back route. We stayed at Indian Ridge on our first stay, but there were no restaurants within walking distance. You could, depending on the weather, comfortably walk from Formosa Gardens, Oak Island Harbor/Cove, Acadia, Rolling Hills & Indian Creek, but you might find it a trifle hot in mid summer.
I would suggest you make an enquiry on the OV sites, if you want to specify a location take a good look at the map. You will find a variety of prices on all subdivisions.
We have no problems in just driving to everywhere, I guess were looking for the perfect location, we just want to not be 45 mins from everything like friends have ended up.

My apologies for mixing the two up, must have been still half asleep, we stayed on Indian Ridge Oaks three times in the early 90's so no excuses

I don't think there are any villas advertised on this site that will be more than 20 - 25 minutes from Disney, and the vast majority will be in the 15 minute bracket.
I would advise that you put out a general enquiry for the dates you require and if you have any 'must have' features list them in the comments section. Then you can choose from the homes offered - once you have a shortlist you can always double check distances by coming back on the forum.

There are Country Creek ,The Hamlets ,Windwood Kay and Chatham Park & Montego Bay .
The estates are the same price depends on size of the villa so put your requests in and you will get quotes for your dates .
Hope you enjoy your trip to Florida .

You are only 5 miles from Disney and very close to all the other attractions, shopping, and some excellent restaurants on the Lindfields development. It is also a very well presented community. Of course I am prejudiced as our home is on Lindfields along with several others on Orlando Villas.

We are going to stay in Indian Ridge in 3 weeks time and I intend to post trip reports while I'm there so keep a look out for them.
I am a first timer so had no previous experience to go by. Unfortunately didn't join the form until after I had chosen our villa but the guys on here are great in advising regarding everthing.
I chose Indian Ridge mostly based on the villa we had found and I liked the idea it was close to Disney etc.
Can't wait 20 days to go.....
Have a great holiday Lynnroy, which I am sure you will. I look forward to hearing about it on your return.
Thanks Jill- I am planning to do a few trip reports like Garry did while he was out there.
