So this is the week that we normally go to florida (last 5 years) but it is just to far to go this year as we are now living in China.

Been blue about it for a few weeks, but we have decided to go to phuket instead - it is a lovely 33c here today and looking at the current weather in Florida, seems like it worked out well.

Off to James Bond's Island and the beach where the filmed the Beach tomorrow.

Still missing Florida a bit, but nice to see some more of the world. Been in China for 7 months and managed trips to Sanya, Bali and Thailand

I'm off to Hong Kong next week and really looking forward to it. Hopefully the weather won't be a big deal but it looks like it'll be warmer than Florida.

Just to make you feel even better about not being in the States at the moment

my daughter is in Ohio at the moment and she mentioned this was on the news last night.

Apparently 49 out of 50 US States had snow on Friday only Hawaii held out. Although snow falls on 2 of their highest volcanos they didnt get any on Friday. It wasnt as far south as Orlando but some fell on the panhandle area.

We were in Sarasota today and it was sunny and warm and went to ST ARMOND square there was a car show on the island and the cars were Ferrari , Bentleys, Aston Martins and Rolls Royce on show .
The people who owned them won awards for best kept cars .
Oh to win the Lottery [msnsmile2]

We are still here in Florida and over the past 11 weeks have experienced hot and cold weather but hasn't stopped us from doing what we planned to do.
Mardi Gras at Universal last night I agree there was a nip in the air but if you are wearing warm clothes shouldn't stop you form havng a great time. I know where I would rather be [msnwink]

So we had an orlando day today....

Instead of MGM we went to where they filmed both the man with the golden gun and the beach - stunning.

Instead of the small world ride, we canoed through caves and mangroves

instead of a roller coaster, we felt the wind in our hair at the front (and back) of a speedboat

Instead of seaworld, we snorkeled in a coral reef with just the most beautiful fish

Instead of traveling through asia in animal kingdom, we were in asia

Instead of a burger for lunch we had a tai red curry and rice in a fishing village built on stilts.

Instead of American service we had Thai service, similar but more humble and without the expectation of a big tip.

And as a back drop, not shopping malls, but rubber plantations.

All in one day and all in 36c sun[msnsmile2]

We are just as exhausted, but, when I asked the kids tonight where they would rather be, the responded in a way I never thought they would..... here [msnsmile2]

We are at our house at the moment, sun is shining but it is so cold outside, the last few days have been a nightmare and it was as bad as being in the UK. At least it has made us get on with DIY. Very romantic on valentines Day!
