We're about to rent an intermediate car. I've noticed that if you rent a 4 door compact with Budget they are giving a free upgrade to a 2 door intermediate. Does anyone know if this is reliable? We don't want a compact even although there'll only be 2 of us. We have 2 large cases which need a decent sized boot/trunk. We also want the comfort of a larger car.[msnscared]

I believe it is based on availability, so I would not really on booking anything less than the size you require. Anything on top is a bonus.

I agree with Martin. Book the class of car which you actually want, rather than hoping for an upgrade, as you have no guarantee otherwise, and upgrading over there is very costly.

Thanks both for your replies. I kind of thought as much.

Hi Jackie

Go with what the others have said about booking a car that is the size you want. You do not want to be left with a car that is too small.

Having said this we have booked Budget for the last three times and have had an upgrade every time. It is the first thing we point out when we get to the desk, letting the rep know that, if available, we can have a free upgrade. Point this out to them on your confirmation form.
