can anyone tell what the weather is normally like in august.

Hot and humid :D Temperatures in high 20s during the day, scattered heavy thunderstorms are common in the afternoons. These can be very localised, with one area getting an hour or so of rain and others, maybe 5 miles away not a drop!

We went one year and all the thunderstorms came over during the night so the days were hot and sunny
We were over in Orlando last August, around the 19th. It was hot and beautifully sunny, and the humidity was bearable. We had a couple of real downpours - whilst driving on the 1-4 which was a new experience for me! But although the rain was sheeting down, all the drivers seemed to slow right down, so it wasn't scary. I just crawled along like everyone else.
As Shirley so rightly says, it can be torrential rain in one place but compeletely dry in another. For example, sheeting down on the 1-4 but at our home, just a few miles away absolutely nothing.
One thing is for sure, it didn't stop us doing anything!

They really can be very small storm areas. A couple of years ago we were in the Disney Village have lunch at the Rain Forest, which is at one end.
Big storm started just as we left and luckily we were parked at that end of the village. Waited 10 minutes to see if it would stop, when it didn't we decide to move on. As we drove out at the other end not only did the rain stop but the whole area was dry.
It had only been raining at one end of the village, you can't get more local than that.

Average Rain Fall - 7.2 inches
Average Number of Rainy Days - 16
Average % humidity (morning/evening) - 92/66
In centigrade the average high is 34C and with that humidity it really is unpleasant to be outside(unless in a pool) for most people.
