Guys, what’s the score with bringing laptops on planes. Is it allowed does it class as 1 piece of hand luggage. I am hoping my villa has Wifi as I still need to receive emails and check out the football scores.

No problem at all but, if you have it in a separate case, it will count as your smaller piece of carry-on.

If you're thinking of using it during the flight, you might well need a power adaptor and, of course, can't use the wireless facility.

Andrew

They are allowed on planes, not sure if they count as a piece of handluggage or not, may depend on the carrier.

If you have booked a villa from this site contact the owner, they will tell you whether there is WiFi or not, if not they may have a computer that you can use.

Some airlines list on the baggage pages how laptops affect your hand luggage allowance so it might be worth checking your carrier's pages.

Most scheduled airlines allow 1 piece of handbaggage plus a laptop bag

BA Allow I Bag + 1 briefcase or laptop in Economy
Virgin allow 1 Bag + 1 handbag in Economy (did wonder if my netbook could go as a handbag
:))

I flew BA, Virgin, AA, Delta, Easy Jet and Air France this past year and each time it was 1 hand luggage plus either a purse or a laptop (anything small and flat that will fit under the seat [msnwink]). At least that's how I understand it, and I've always brought the laptop along on top of my hand luggage with no problem, although on smaller planes the hand luggage might be taken at the entrance of the plane and given back when you get out if it's too bulky.

No problem with a laptop, just be prepaired to take it out of the case a couple of times on your journey while going through customs

When going through security at Orlando International on Saturday I was told I didn't have to take my laptop out of its soft padded cover - made it much easier and safer for my laptop as the previous time someone had put my shoes on top of it and left a nice footprint on the pink lid! Seems it only has to come out if it is in a proper case.
