We fly on Wednesday EDI to LGW to MCO. Our flight from EDI leaves five hours before the LGW flight. I want to be able to check in online for the EDI to LGW flight and will do this 24 hours before departure. I won't be able to check in for the LGW to MCO flight until five hours later. Is it possible to check in for the first flight and second connecting flight at the same time?
Also, does BA allow you to take baggage to the fast bag drop 24 hrs before departure?

I'm not quite certain what you mean by checking in for both flights at the same time. If you are happy to wait until 24 hours before the second flight then the answer is 'Yes'. However, as you mention, there isn't any way you can check in for the later flight 24 hours before the first one. Personally, I think it's a stupid rule but it is firmly established.

BA are fairly strict on bag dropping times and I'm sure (if you're in Economy) you will have to wait until check-in opens a few hours before the flight.

Cheers for the info. As my first flight is at 06:30, I was hoping to take my bags to airport the day before my flights.

If you're flying that early you aren't likely to encounter much of a queue at either bag drop or security so I don't see any real drawback dropping your bags on the day of the flight. If I were you, I'd check what time both the airport and check-in open!

I know Gatwick has a service that allows you to check in your bags the evening before. Have a look at manage my booking to see if they have one at Edinburgh.

We came BA 5 weeks ago and we could not find a BA facility to check bags in the night before. Where is it? The only place we could leave the luggage if we wished was at Left Luggage and collect the following morning at a charge. We took them to the hotel with us. Bit of a pain as with Virgin at least you get the twilight check in the evening before.

I think it's the only UK airport where BA offer this service - you definitely can't do it at Heathrow T5.

Think I will do the same.

Hi Shona - did all passengers travel to the airport to check in at 06:20?

I'm not clear whether she means she checked in online or in person at the airport. I might well be wrong but I'm very surprised BA will take your bags off you a full day before your flight departs. That would mean that you can check in well over 24 hours before somebody only doing the London-Orlando leg.

If they will, then I stand corrected!

Yeah, on reading again it isn't clear if BA accepted the luggage 24 hrs beforehand.

Just spoke to BA and they advise I cannot check in at the airport 24 hrs before the flight, only online. I can check in online for both my first flight and my connecting flight twenty four hours before the first flight. When I check in for the first flight, there is a selection box that will allow me to also check in for the connecting flight even though this is more than 24 hours. I can also pick seats and print boarding passes at this time.
I will have to take my bags to the fast bag drop on the morning of the flight.

yes sorry i should have said check-in was on-line. our seats were together but we easily moved them around the aircraft and selected the ones we wanted. not near the WC, not over the wing, on the wright side to get a good view coming in over land!!!!!![zzz]
