View Full Version : Rain and Discovery Cove
Hi
We are off to DC on Saturday (17th) and rain has been forecast for the morning, does anyone know if we can change the day we go or is it still worth going and hope for the best[?].

I thought a lot of the point of Discovery Cove is that you get wet anyway!!!

Just brave it out - we are still going !
Even if it rains it will still be warm.

If you had seen and heard the thunderstorms that accompanied the rain we had yesterday you wouldn't want to be out in it!!!
Scared my lil 'un half to death.
We have decided to go anyway and have fun whatever the weather
We had rain yesterday but didn't hear any thunder or see any lightning. What you have to consider is that if there is any lightning in the area they will have you out of the water very quickly, that could spoil the day for everyone.

Wendy, how was it?

Hi
It was the most amazing day, arrived at the park for 8 am, it was really cold, and us in only our strappy tee shirts, everyone else in fleeces! but by the time we had breakfast and lots of hot coffee it was time for our 9.55 dolphin swim with Lester and when we met him we forgot all about the fact that our teeth were chattering. By 11 am the sun had come out and the rest of the day was glorious, we also met Karen (Pluto) and her family, it turned out they were behind us on the deck chairs! a very small world. We ended up leaving DC at 5 pm exhausted from all the excitment and swimming - a truly lovely day - perfect, and worth every penny.[msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msncool]
We are taking our granddaughters there in Nov
Looks as if we will have a great time
Is it best to get there early?

Glad to here you had a great time. We went in January, so had the same cold start to the day. The wet suits were great at keeping you warm though, if we got a bit chilly swimming with the fish, we would go in the lazy river bit which was so warm!
Hi Carol
It was recommended by the DC check in rep at Seaworld to us that we arrive for the 8 am check in because the dolphin swim is on a first come first serve basis, and for us having the dolphin swim at the beginning of the day meant that we didn't have to clock watch and spent the rest of the day enjoying the other attractions in the park.
We had Lester too last October!!

We were there on Sunday Fantastic day
We got there at 8am Swam with the Dolphins at 10am One grand daughter is vegitarian & they cooked her a special meal
It is expensive but worth every penny
Carol
Actually when you look at the fact that with the Ultimate ticket (which was what the 5 of us had) you get 14 days unlimited access to Seaworld, Busch Gardens and Aquatica, I think it is well worth the money. We would have bought tickets to those three parks anyway so for us when we added up the prices of those tickets separately the Ultimate Ticket price wasn't really that much more expensive, We had never done DC before and sacrificed WDW to do it, and it was well worth the sacrifice, no crowds, no queues .... lovely [msnsmile2]
Ooh I want to go back [msncry]
