Following on from BA's example a couple of weeks ago, American Airlines will charge $50 for a second checked bag to and from the UK/USA.
It applies to trips booked in economy after 13 September 2009.
These charges really add up when applied both ways but I can't say I'm at all surprised by this move which looks like becoming the norm from now on.
