Hi we filled all the esta forms online about 3 months ago as they are seem to be using the green visa waiver forms and the online ones do you think that it will all be sorted by January 2010.
Thanks

my hubby always does ours, he forgot one part on one of the 3 cards[msnembarrased]
Make sure you fill it all in
or you may end up at the back of the line
again
This happened to us in July
one office was helping people fill it in at his desk
the guy we got just sent us to the back of the line [msnmad]

Does anaybody know what happens if visitors don't fill Esta in online?
I'm sure there must be some travellers who don't know about it?

Pam, I think they just give you a leaflet so you do it next time
I find the whole dual ESTA thing a PIT@ -
Why they don't dump one for the other and just be done with it, If I'd know when I did mine on-line that I was still going to have to fill those silly green cards in aswell I wouldn't have bothered,
One or the other guys pleeeeeeeesae......
Rant over.

Its not that bad is it??? It only takes a few minutes to fill in your ESTA application, and as for the green card, fill them out on the aircraft. After all your not going anywhere are you! Except hopefully the USA.

Dave[/quote]Personally I do find them a pain particularly as the immigration bods have to be so pedantic about them being 100% correct. As such I do resent having to do them twice with the same pressure not to make the tiniest little mistake but twice.....
Just my opinion.

It is a bit annoying that months after introduction of ESTA there's not much sign of the green forms disappearing. I think the instances of people being sent to the back of the line because their form isn't filled in correctly are really a pretty rare event and these days the officials do seem more tolerant of minor errors that can be quickly corrected.

well of course I exaggerate but you get the drift.
Having completed on line I was soooooo.. tempted to complete in the name of Mickey Mouse with my first nights address being Main St. USA, however I did resist as I didn't think the Immigration Officer would see the funny side.........well actually I knew he wouldn't.[msneek]
I'd prefer they fully implemented ESTA and did away with the VW cards, of course. But seriously, is it such a hassle to fill in a very short form with very simple questions? It barely takes 5 minutes.

For ease of reference I've cut 'n' paste from my penultimate post as to why I personally find it a hassle.
As I say just my opinion, no-body else might and that's great.

I do agree it's a pain. My point is, why is it so hard to get them "100% correct"? It's very basic information, all of which you have on you anyway, so I don't understand why you feel it's such an onerous task.
Anyway as you say, each to his own.:D Personally if that's all it takes to get into USA I'm happy.
I know the forms are simple but for some reason I always seem to make a mistake and have to get another form[msnembarrased]
I always anser the questions honestly as I am a very boring person with nothing to hide but I do find the questions a litle silly, would you admit to being involved in espionage[8D] or any of the other thinks on th form.

So do I assume (sorry this has probably been previously asked and answered) but once we fill out the ESTA with all our info. that's all we do? We dont have to print nothing off or keep hold of the reference number? As i assume its all linked to the passport number? [msnscared]

Netty, as you have told us on another thread that you have recently been granted a visa you will not need to fill in an ESTA. You will just fill in the white form instead of the green visa waiver.
I know that I don't have to do it, but the rest of my family do. I was just enquiring as I am sorting that all out.
We picked up spare copies of the waiver and customs forms in the immigration hall a few years ago and completed them at home ready for our next trip. On that trip handed in the forms we had already completed but took the forms on the plane when they were handed out and completed them at home for the trip after that. Takes the pressure off having to complete them on the plane.
Looking for three waiver and customs forms. Anybody have these spare and wouldn't mind popping in the post? If yes, DM me and I will leave my mailing details.
Thanks

If anybody also has 5 of these waiver forms and could pop them into the post for me I would very much appreciate, just incase we make a mistake which we did once before and was kindly asked to fill in new ones and just step to one side.
And then was all sorted we are flying out on the 4th January 2010[msnsmile2]

Emma
You canget them at the airport when you check in, we always get a couple of extra ones just in case. Given that there is usually a bit of hanging around before you fly is the ideal time to do them and check them over, rather than wait till on the plane as people often do and then it is much easier to make a mistake.
When we flew in October the green waiver form had changed, so you would need the new ones.

Lyn, both types seem to still be in circulation, the ones with email line and the old ones. When I used one with an email space, I was told by the immigration officer not to worry as my email was longer than the space anyway. But not everyone has an email address so not quite sure why they bother with that?

They do seem to be making quite a few technology assumptions these days. You can only apply for ESTA online, but not everyone has internet access either.
It's a trend in the industry - IATA regulations now mandate E-tickets only for members since June 1st 2008 (no paper tickets), but you really need an email address to receive an E-ticket.
On many internal Lufthansa flights these days I don't even get a boarding pass, I get a barcode send to my Blackberry.
Pretty soon your booking will be linked to the retinal scan you provided to the UN, and there will be no need to carry any identification :D

I thought I was quite literate and capable, but having to fill in 5 forms for my family during the flight, I have yet to do it without at least one mistake. Been 'backlined' once for my sins, but we really need to have one thing or another. Can't easily cope with the usually humourless officialdom after 9 hours on a plane with 3 young children. It's still worth it though!

The intention is the forms will go once Esta is fully operational at all airports from what has been written.

Hi as we are flying out on the 4th Jan not long now[msnsmile2]
we filled the esta forms online about 5 to 6 months ago but we did not print off the bit at the end so we have no record of doing it doest this matter or do we need to do our passports again.
Thanks
If you know the application number that the system gives you when you apply, you can check and print out your authorization from the ESTA site, and update it for your flight number.

Hi did not note this application number down but i did put the flight number down assuming it was the correct flight number.
Should we be ok or would it be best to do them again once again assuming we can thanks

According to the ESTA registration process you will never be asked to show it, so there is no need to print it off.
If you need to update any info, you will need the authorisation number, but that would only be the case if you wanted to update one of the allowed fields (E-mail address, Telephone number, Carrier Information, City where you are boarding, Address while in the United States). Surprisingly however all of these fields are optional.
