More restaurants:

Directly opposite Southern Dunes there is a sports bar/restaurant - The All Star Bar & Grill.
Turn left at the traffic lights (towards Manny's) at the first turning on the right (behind KFC) is Beef O' Brady. Further along (less than 5 minutes) is Manny's with T-Bones next door.
If you travel further down H27 and into Winter Haven there are lots of restaurants including Longhorns, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday, Red Lobster, Outback.....
Turn right at the traffic lights (towards Orlando) and at the junction with I4 are Perkins, Bob Evans and Dennys.

Lakeland Square mall is off I4 on the way to Tampa on H98 junction, just 25 minutes if you use the short cut to I4 west.
Turn left out of SD then right at 1st lights by kentucky fried chicken (polk city road). Follow this country road until the end (about 10 mins) and turn right onto state road 557. I4 is just ahead, follow signs I4 west this is junction 48 on I4.

Walmart sells almost everything, not just food and usually in fairly large sizes. Winn Dixie (still walking distance) has less choice, but some great meat and fish for the BBQ with a good salad choice and great if you just want the odd thing as there is less likely to be a queue.

Taco Bell, right by Winn Dixie, also sells pizza hut pizza and just over H27 (it is walking distance, but I am not keen to walk over the main road) is Mac Donalds, checkers (burgers I think) and at the next lights is a kentucky. You can get chinese delivered

If you decide to use Winn Dixie sign up for a Winn Dixie card - as you can get some very good offers. We have saved quite a lot over the years.

Southern Dunes Clubhouse does some very nice meals and the Sunday breakfast buffet is always very popular.

There is also a Chinese takeaway just past Winn Dixie. The Orange Ring sells lovely freshly squeezed fruit juice. It is okay to cross the road as there are now pedestrian lights - we have done it. The other side of the road also has a Dollar Market, Dairy Queen, Liquer Store, Popeyes. Next door to Manny's is T-Bones which has a wide and varied menu. Each side of the road has a large chemist.

Sanford airport is approx 1hr 20 mins and there are 2 main driving options. First is to take the toll roads which can be quicker depending on the time of day you arrive or you can use mainly the US-17-92 / US-17 S / US-92 S and the I4 this is a shorter route and can take as long if not longer than the toll roads.

Check out the State Parks they are a great alternative for an outing - The Old Spanish Sugar Mill is a unique restaurant where you can cook your own pancakes on a griddle and is located inside the DeLeon Springs State park, we also went on a boat trip and saw quite a lot of wildlife.
