My latest credit card bill arrived today and on it there is a charge which goes as follows;

20 May Budget Rent A Car Toll $30.75 @ $1.5609 800-4820159 NY £19.70

We returned from Florida on May 1st having returned our car without any query from the Budget staff at MCO. I have read on other forums of other UK travellers having been billed for 'unpaid' tolls (if indeed this is what this relates to) whilst in Florida, particularly by Alamo, on their return home. Some of these people weren't even at the location they were alleged to have been in at the time of the so-called offence. The only thing I can think this charge is for is this; we were at KSC on Easter Sunday and as we were returning to Orlando on the Beachline (528 toll) at around 6pm we came to a large tailback at the toll plaza near MCO. I picked a lane and when we finally reached the toll booth we saw that the coin hopper was full to the brim. I couldn't reverse back out to get to another one due the traffic build-up behind me so I threw in the $1.25 or whatever it was and drove on through. Several cars in front of me had done the same.

I am hoping that Roger can, at the very least, advise me how to go about finding out what this charge is for, as I am somewhat annoyed about it to be polite! We didn't use the toll roads apart from this one day and the days we went from and to the airport and we paid with the exact coin amount every time. I feel ripped off to put it mildly.

Future travellers beware! Watch this space. Over to you Roger . . .

Just in case you need it, my booking ref number was 33663.

Sorry to hear about this John. Can you please email us on info@uscarhire.co.uk with all the details.

Budget are duty-bound to pass on any toll charges and resulting penalties, so you it's not actually Budget charging you for this.

Once you email us, we can have Budget contact the Toll Authority to provide a schedule of exactly what the charges are for.

Then if you dispute it, you will need to do so directly with the tolls.
