Using Alamo though UScarhire

Hi there.

Me and friend are going to California (san diego) for 3 weeks in early may, we are both 22 so we found out about the $25 a day surcharge which to put it bluntly annoyed us.

Then we found UScarhire and it turns out we can save around £300 on the car rental if we do it through this site. To be honest it seems to good to be true to me.

So I am wondering do we book it though UScarhire then take the confirmation code to the Alamo desk and their are no other charges? Its the first time ive ever used a site like this so id like to know other peoples experiences.

The simple answer is yes :D If you look back through other car hire posts, you will find many happy customers. At some airports there may be a small airport facility charge to pay on arrival, but if there is, it will be mentioned in your quote. There are no hidden extras [clap]

(Just remember to stick to your guns when you go to pick up the car, some of the car rental staff can be quite persuasive with the hard sell - upgrades, extra insurance etc. They're on commission but don't get fooled - the prices here are inclusive of everything most people need)

Just one thing to point out is that the package allows just 1 young driver with no extra costs (and up to 3 additional drivers age 25+). If there is a second young driver then that driver will have to pay the surcharge of $25+tax per day on collection of the car.

Last year we had a nasty young female saleswoman who tried to make us pay for another vehicle and also to take a smaller vehicle. I stuck to my guns and insisted I had the car I booked and refused to pay again. I had the confidence to do this because I trust Roger as I have booked with him on previous visits. Whe she started to get very awkward I told her I was going to ring as he is based in USA and she finally gave up and we got our car. This sort of thing is awful when you arrive, tired and just want to get your villa but so easy to deal with when you have total confidence with the peple whom you made your booking. Guess who just booked her car from this site again? and who's friends are directed to book from here as well.
