Travellers Cheques

Apologies as I know this has been covered before but I cannot find it.

We are of to Florida next month and would like advice on whether or not travellers cheques are still widely accepted.

Yes they are widely accepted but these days a lot of people see them as a bit outdated and use credit and debit cards which are accepted more or less everywhere. Your choice of course.

If you do get them, don't get too many $100 ones as some of the smaller stores will not have enough in the till to change them. Stick with the $50 or less.

I never had any problem with TC anywhere in the US. I use TC because I buy them when the Dollar is low (bought the last ones summer 2008, and because I have had problems with my cards a couple of times (machine couldn't read it), when I never had any trouble with TC. Plus I think it's my way to save money for my vacations, buying TC and piling them in my safe box:D:D:D
