Mermaid camp is to Weekee Wachee what space camp is to NASA and is a new facility recently introduced by this Gulf Coast mermaid park.
It is suitable for children 7-15 years ( good swimmers!!) and takes place on selected dates ( two or three per month) over the Summer. For $175, you get two underwater training sessions, a mermaid makeover, the opportunity to particpate in a live mermaid performance, a portrait, tee shirt and souvenirs, admission to the park for your parents and lunch.
It would be a super present for a little girl ( sorry to be sexist but merman makeover just does not have the same ring to it). The only drawback is that it seems to take place over two days which would mean driving over to the coast twice if you are staying in Orlando, though there is a water park right next door and the Homosassa Manetee park is quite near if the parents want something to do whilst their child is mermaiding.
