Hi,
We moved house a few weeks ago, and we haven't changed our address on our license yet, because i didn't think we would get them back before we go. Will this be ok with the car hire? i can't remember if they took our address before.
Thanks
Teresa

My adress on my driver license is not my current personal adress (you are not required by law to change your adress on your license in France, just on your car's papers... as long as they know where to send the fine they're happy [}:)]) and I never had trouble hiring a car in the US or elsewhere.

BUT I always hired with companies who took a credit card swipe though, I don't know if it makes a difference (I've read somewhere there's one company that doesn't swipe cards, can't remember where). I think they just want to know who to charge if trouble occurs, no more.

Nathalie.

The address on my UK-issued European driving licence is not my current address, and hasn't been for over 10 years. For various reasons I tend to book with Hertz, and they have my correct German address on file, and this obviously doesn't match the incorrect UK address on my driving licence, but they have never queried this. No other car rental company I've used in the past decade has mentioned it either, so I think you'll be OK.

They will require your address (they need somewhere to send invoice, unpaid fines, or to give to the authorities if you have an accident etc) but I don't think it will be an issue that the address on your driving licence is not current.

As Natalie mentions, it might be more of an issue if you're not using a credit card as security. If you are worried, why don't you call them and make sure?
