We're looking at using Budget at MCO for our next trip this summer. The link on this site is offering a good price on a full-size with a free upgrade to a premium model (subject to availability).
Two questions:
1. Has anyone booked a deal like this only to find that there was "no availability"?
2. It would appear from Budget's website that full size is a Ford Taurus, but Premium is only a Lincoln Towncar or Grand Marquis. Has anyone hired from Budget in either of these categories recently? If so, what model did you get?
Thanks.

I've never used Budget but a relative of mine has done on 2 occasions and both times there was 'no availability' for the free upgrade.
He was happy enough with what he got though.
We used Budget at Sanford in July last year and there was 'no availability' for an upgrade from the full-size we had booked so it does make you wonder. Having said that, it was school holidays so a very busy period. We didn't have any complaints about the one we did get, don't ask me what it was though, silver is all I can remember.[msnsmile2] Best advice is to book the car you want and if you get an upgrade, treat it as a bonus.
It's actually very rare to NOT have the free upgrade, so you must have been very unfortunate. If you must have a specific vehicle then we would not recommend banking on the upgrade, but as I say, you usually do receive it.

Are you expected to ask for it or can you rely on it happening if a car is available?
You shouldn't need to ask since it is built in to the booking, but doesn't do any harm to remind them (the upgrade coupon codes that Budget use are printed on the voucher).

We have booked a full size twice with Budget and had the free upgrade both times. We did have to remind them once but no problems. We actually ended up with brand new Premium cars both times

We have used Budget on all of our trips and always had an upgrade without asking. I expect it depends on the time of year and how many people actually book the car they want leaving none for the upgrades.
All of cars we were given had very few miles on the clock and were in good, clean condition.
