I have recently booked through Alamo for our party of 5 adults and 2 kids aged 4 and 6. Alamo specifies a Toyota Sienna 8 seater as the vehicle and I am concerned that it
will not be big enough for us. We booked 2 yrs ago though Dollar and had a Ford E350 which was also advertised as an 8 seater.Having seen some pictures of the Toyota, I am deeply concerned about what appears to be a lack of luggage space. Does anyone out there know more about the Toyota and it's suitability? I would prefer to have the Ford but the rates have shot up by almost £200 since the booking time.
Thanks.

I have also got a quote direct from Dollar now at £588 for the Ford E150. This is £100 less than through this site. Why such a difference?

You can bet though that it doesn't cover the great customer service you'll get through the OV site.
Dollar do have an offer on for this type of car for a day or 2 but note that price is their standard rate with 1 driver and you pay the fuel, compared to ours which includes a tank of fuel plus extra drivers.

It looks like this short-term Dollar sale has done no more than bring their rates down to what the other major rental firms are charging anyway. You can make the same savings through this site by simply changing to another rental company and you'll get the service upgrade for free!

Sorry - I'm a bit confused with this now. I paid £500 when I booked through Alamo. The quotes I get now are Alamo £598 Dollar £697 and Thrifty £669. Alamo now looks to be no good as the vehicle is too small. I really need the Ford E150 which Dollar offer. The quote direct from Dollar is £585. you say I can change to another company and get the same deal but I can't see how you come to that conclusion? Am I missing the point?

The point I was badly making is that, while it is true that this sale makes a lot of Dollar's direct rates temporarily cheaper than through this site, that isn't true with all the rental companies. We've just seen some pretty big rises from Dollar but a similar vehicle with 1 of the other companies through this site will be around the same price as the Dollar 'sale'.
I didn't realise that you must have that particular vehicle and only Dollar do it. If that is the case then you are correct in saying that you'll save money going direct to Dollar. I think the sale ends today doesn't it?
