I plan to book a mid size SUV for my father and myself for our upcoming trip to Orlando in April of next year as we want to have a more open and flat (ish) boot to lift a lightweight mobility scooter into (we juggled it over the boot lip of a large size car boot earlier this year which was awkward to say the least), as well as make it easier for Dad to get in and out of.
Best price so far is with Alamo at £265 on silver option.
We've always had a car before so I have no idea how much we will be charged by the car rental company for a full tank when returning it to MCO (the price difference between the silver and gold is £50). Can anyone give me a rough idea please?
Many thanks in advance for any and all advice.

I would go for the gold and run the tank as empty as you can before returning the car to the airport.

We picked up a car a couple of days ago , and the voucher is quoting $7.19 per gallon. Current price at the pumps is around $2. This is with dollar.

Many thanks for all the advice. Paying the difference for the gold seems to be the best option from all you've said. And probably worth it for peace of mind too. Roll on April 2009!

If you take the Silver option can you not just fill the tank before returning the car??? Sorry if it seems a silly question.

You can ask, but it may not be granted. I think this depends on the person who serves you.

Having said that we signed up with the dollar express card and when we went to denver + houston last year i asked if i could return full and it wasn't a problem.

So it seems to me the only option is to take out the Gold Option otherwise if you take out the silver option you still end up paying the rest upon returning your car. So I dont see why they offer both options anyway.
