Hi

We are travelling to Orlando in May 2009 and would like your opinions as to the best car type to fit 4 adults and their luggage in comfortably. I would prefer a vehicle where you sit up higher than in a normal car to get a good view of the road.

Many thanks

Matthew

I would suggest any of the 4x4's would do. May is a great time to be in Florida.

Would a mid-size 4x4 be big enough?

I did a trip with 3 other girls last Thanksgiving. We had a midsized 4x4 and it was great. We did have to load the bags on the rear seat on the way to the airport though, but we did have 8 cases plus hand luggage [msnembarrased]

Our last 3 trips we rented a midsize 4x4 and twice we got a Toyota Highlander (Alamo)although the Highlander is not usually a midsize we got upgraded due to scarcity of their normal midsize (Chevvy Equinox) and the last time we got a Jeep Liberty via Thrifty.
We got three adults and three large cases + flight bags in both car types without using the remaining back seat, so provided your cases aren't massive I would say the midsize would probably be OK. Might be better to go for the Standard size 4x4 though if you have a lot of luggage. All of the US 4x4s are high sitting position and give a great view of the road. [msnsmile2]

On our last trip to Orlando we hired a 12 seater minivan for 4 adults and 3 kids. We had a fair bit of luggage going but as you can imagine we had even more coming back with all the great things you can buy. In my opinion i would hire 7 seater minivan. Plenty of room for luggage and plenty of room to go and have 5 minutes nap or rest mid afternoon in the parks.

Personally i would go for a 4x4 or a 7 seater. We have rented both of these previous from the site above and found them great for the 4 of us. A full size maybe pushing it with 4 adults and luggage unless you travel light.

We've booked a 7 seater and there is only the two of us. We keep meaning to hire a small 4x4 but always chicken out at the last minute in case we only get a small one. Has anyone driven an Equinox? What if you want to buy stuff whilst you are out there is it large enough? We are owners of a villa so likely we will buy pieces of furniture etc.
