There used to be two one on I-Drive and one on the 192.

The one on I-Drive brings back really fond memories of our first ever visit. We stayed at the Marriot (Ithink it is now a Wyndham or Raddison) on the corner of I-Drive and Sandlake (Opp the Perkins there). Didn' hire a car. On our first night we were drawn to the big barn style facade and went in for drinks and dinner. I remember jaywalking acros the lanes of I-Drive as if I were back home.

I guess it was the first place we discovered the size of the posrtions and the tendernes of baby-back ribs. So-sad to see that it is no longer.

Darryl's on the 192 closed down some time ago and was, without doubt, one of the worst places we've ever eaten so we weren't exactly upset at its passing.

Still, if you have happy memories of the one on I4, savour them in your Florida memory book, especially if it was your first visit to Florida.

That does surprise me but then again I guess I am probably biased on the premise that it was my first eating out experience in Florida.

I would love to hear of the views of other patrons of the establishment on I-Drive.

Incidentally is there any update on whther Bennigans is still trading?

Nigel we stayed at the Marriot [about 22-23 years ago] and also ate at Darryls -it was a good restaurant then, and I think from memory, if you sat in one bit they handcuffed you -my memory will not bring back the 'why' bit though :)

I have some old pics of Darryls but do not know how to get them scanned electronically so that I can show them here.

Did you sit up or downstairs?

I recall that on one visit a Pig Pounder glass had a cut edge on it which cut my finger. When I alerted the waiter/ress about 3 manager types surrounded me asking me if I was OK. I coulda got a free meal on the strength of that but just said I was fine and did not make a fuss.

We've stayed on I-drive a few times...can't remember where we have eaten there over the years...same as you we had no car first trap without my parents...but the hotel had big and little buses that dropped you off and picked you up everywhere..even the malls..
When I remember the cost of our first holidays I wonder how we ever afforded them back then...
