When we arrived at MCO we had problem collecting the car. Gave the girl the printed voucher and she insisted she could not find a booking for us. Kept waiting for ages but refused to be made to pay and book again. I explained that we had an old reference booking number which had been changed, that I had laptop with me and could give her this ref. no as well. She stated that you were part of Travel City and this was why we had been sent new numbers after you had gone bust. Then she decided that she had found our booking and tried to give us a 7 seater. I was becoming very irate by this stage and stated we had booked and paid for a 12 seater and that as there was nine in our party we wouldn't fit in a 7 seater. We were then given the keys for a 12 seater which has less boot space than the 8 seater we usually have.

I’m sorry to hear of the confusion by Dollar / Thrifty.
Recently, Dollar changed our supplier reference number, and issued new vouchers. I see your voucher has the old account number, so when Dollar opened up your booking they will have seen an inactive account. They then evidentially told you (in error) that our supplier is no longer trading. All Dollar staff had been instructed to look up all orders on their system where they would have seen it listed under the new reference number, and they assured us the change in reference numbers would not be an issue. In the event, we’ve had around 15 clients with the same problem as you (out of many hundred without an issue).
I'm not sure what she was going on about with the 7 seater as it would have been very clear to her from her screen that you had booked a 12 seater. Glad to hear it got sorted out in the end though.

We had a similar problem with Thrifty. We were made to pay for the booking again, which they told us was because of XL going bust (which we knew was a load of nonsense). Fortunately the transaction never completed on my CC.
They then gave us a 12 seater, rather than the 8 seater we had booked, which, although I think it would've been the same car had we had the 8 seater (a Ford E350 - avoid like the plague!!!), it made getting the luggage in very difficult.
We had a very few problems like this which was a pain because Dollar and Thrifty incorrectly associated us with Travel City and new vouchers were indeed issued with new references on. Dollar and Thrifty staff have since all been sent memo's explaining this is not the case, so the problem wont occur again.
Those that had the problem had the transaction cancelled off their card, or refunded quickly once they were notified.

Ours didn't even show on our card in the first place, which was a relief.
Rest assured that we don't hold this site responsible in any way, and Roger was very quick to respond to any emails we sent him.

We to have the Ford E350, YUK!!! Boot is pathetically small, we had on 7 bags for the 9 of us and we really struggled to get it in. Had to put on seats and between seats. Going back to the airport is going to be a nightmare. We always shop when we are here and will having double that going back.
Worst van we have ever had!!
Jan,
Not sure how much longer you are here for...but
Have you tried taking the car to the Dollar ( Thrifty ?) depot in Kissimmee and explaining that it is not suitable for your requirements? Normally the hire companies are very accommodating and if you approach them in a reasonable, pleasant way, will often change the vehicle (if you previously liked the 8 seater better and it would be big enough for your purposes this time, they may even swap for one of those if they have one).
I have done this occasionally (sometimes when a fault occurred) and even this time (we're in FL at the moment) the lady at the Thrifty desk at Sanford suggested that as they did not have much choice in the midsize SUVs we could try the Jeep Liberty they gave us and if not satisfied, do just the sort of swap mentioned! The Jeep has been fine however!!
anyway...try asking at the Kissimmee depots.....you never know? [msnsmile2]
(Thrifty are at the Radisson Hotel at Celebration....Dollar are on the 192 near the I4 intersection...not sure of the hotel ..but near to where the old Water Mania used to be!)
Wow....good to know guys.
