View Full Version : discovery cove
We are all dreaming of a day a discovery cove next summer..the only problem is we have a 5 year old who would love to stroke and stand in the water with the dolphins but wouldn't like being pulled along. I read on the DC website that the minimum age is 6 - does that mean she couldn't even stroke them?
Thanx

When we did Discovery Cove last year there was a family with a younger child who did not actually do the dolphin swim but once the session had finished she was allowed to come into the water to stroke the dolphin and pose for a few photos. Another family member who also did not do the swim looked after her while the family were doing the swim.

phone them and ask them, theyre lovely people and the dolphins are wonderful we have just been to discovery cove for the first time...... it was absolutely amazing!!
thank you for your replies. You mentioned that a younger child and another family member didn't do the swim - is there a spectator ticket then? because my mother will be on holiday with us but won't want to do any of the activities (scared of water) at DC except watch the children.
Yes Ceecee, there is a "Dolphin package" and a "non-dolphin package"! About $100 difference in the cost.
My husband doesn't swim so we booked him the non dolphin package.
It's a wonderful day - you'll love it[msnsmile]

We have just had the most amazing day at DC. Me and the girls swam, hubby on the side taking photos but came in at the end and we have a lovely family photo with a huge dolphin called Capricorn. We swam with Kayleigh. The rest of the day is fantastic too. We all swam in the pool with the rays and fish and all the other swimmy areas. Fantastic day[clap]
We have booked Discovery cove for 1st november this year. Our son is 5 yrs old and we have booked him the dolphin swim. I took advice from discovery cove themselves who have advised me that they will evaluate him when we arrive at the park. He is 6 in december but is small for his age. Here's hoping they allow him to swim with the rest of us!
He can swim (just) and we'll be sewing his badges to his shorts to add weight to our case!
I will post back the outcome when we return on 10th november.
