We find for a family that a villa is far better. You can have all your home comforts, cook a meal if you want (although i only did that 3 times in 3 weeks!), breakfast at leisure if you're having a chill day and having your own pool is fab. Also from my memories of hotels the villa is definately quieter which helps on kids sleeping in on the chill days. I am sure you will find a villa holiday very relaxing which I am sure will be welcome after what must have been quite a stressful time sorting this out.

First time we went to Florida we knew no different and stayed in a hotel. However a villa is a much better option as you will have so much more space. Nobody running up and down corridors late at night making a noise. Your own personal swimming pool to use when you like with no one else messing around. Your own full size kitchen so you have the choice of making meals and drinks to suit but also with the option to go out for a meal as and when you please. Best of all much more space and your own bedrooms. Your car parked outside the door or in the garage - no trying to find a parking space near your room when you return at night. Sounds strange but I also like being able to do all my washing and ironing before I return so I can just unpack when I get back home.

I am sure you will enjoy your holiday and have a great time.

IMO, the only people who stay in hotels are those who have never stayed in a villa.

The experiences are simply not comparable. The space to relax, convenience of your own pool just feet away, privacy of your own room if you need it, no queue for the bathroom, just cannot be beaten.

Even the old hogwash about Mum having to cook on holiday is just that, hogwash. The variety and low prices of all the breakfast and dinner venues means no-one has too cook if they don't want to. The most cooking we've ever done is the obligatory morning pot of coffee, and tollhouse cookies for a snack before bed! You can even order deliveries to your door, any good villa owner will ensure a raft of takeout menus for you to choose from.

Have a great time

I stay in hotels and I own a villa..so glad its only your IMO...:)

I've found pros and cons with both...and helped many people find the right villa for their holiday...but if someone has already booked a hotel...I don't believe they will not have fun...I'm very against telling people that have already booked how much of a rotten time they'll have..it does from my experience drive people away from this site...and this is one of the rare sites I would recommend people use...

Chrizzy100, I had no intention of upsetting or insulting anyone with my post, but it seems something I wrote didn't impress you.

Perhaps you might repost please to let me know why you found my opinion so annoying, and then I can avoid it in the future.

Take the comments with a pinch of salt. Everyone has there own opinion and is allowed to express it.
You are quite correct in your opinion, villas do offer far more room and value over hotels. There is no comparison and especially for families.
I must admit I like staying in hotels when it is just Kate and but for the quality we want it costs a small fortune, for just 2 nights in a quality hotel you can rent a villa for a week!
My first holiday with my family was in hotel and believe me it is far more fun the space of a villa. Its a not brainer.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Pleased to hear your holiday plans are back on track after the collapse if TCD. I 'm sure you will have a great time staying in a villa. For a family we find that a villa is ideal - the children can snack when they want and you can eat whenever you like, the pool is always available when you want it, etc!! Have fun and let us know how you got on [msnsmile]

You will have a wonderful time in Florida especially now you are in a villa where you have everything to hand. I doubt you will be sorry that you could not go to the original hotel. Have a great time anyway, and tell us what you think, or better still, do a trip report!!

I hope you have a great holiday - You will love the villa as it gives you much more space and there is nothing like having your own private pool

After the stresses and strains of nearly losing you holiday, you deserve a bit extra nad you'll almost vcertainly find that you will have a much better time now you are going to be staying in a villa. The area is fairly central for everything so you should be able to find your way round pretty easily.
There's just one thing I would like to know when you come back ...... how many "WOWs" you count from the family when you first walk into the villa (even more if you don't tell the children there's a pool outside the back door.
Of course the second time you go will be even better because you know where you can come to pick a villa that everything that you choose for your family:)

We stayed in hotels on our first two holidays to Florida. Both trips were great but we opted for a villa last time and we are staying in a villa again next year.

I'd recommend the villa rather than a hotel, for all the reasons already mentioned.

Have a great holiday bigchig,

The villa offers far more space and privacy than a hotel, you also get to go on the sunloungers whenever you want. I have stayed in hotels when I first visited Orlando in 1996 and then found out about Villas in 2001 and never looked back really. I am sure you will have a great time.

That's great that you are still able to take your holiday, I am sure you will have a wonderful time. We visit Forida every October and it's a great time to visit. My guess is that you will love the space and luxury a villa offers and want to take a villa holiday again. Having stayed in a villa you will also get an idea of your preferences too (as all villas have different qualities). Now you have found this site, next time you plan a Florida trip you should be able to chose exactly where the villa location is and which home you wish to stay in etc.

I hope you have a fabulous trip, you must let us all know how it went when you get back[msnsmile]

The weather here is fabulous and yes, the thunderstorms have gone, at least, I have not heard one in the past 3 weeks. Enjoy you stay.

Chrizzy, I too found your statement slightly annoying. It was the fact that you implied that those of us who choose to stay in a hotel are not aware of, or have never stayed in a villa. I do agree that it is always better value than hotels for a larger party of 4 or more. And just because a kitchen exists, it doesn't have to do anything more than dispence cold beer, wine and icecreams if that is what you want.

Hotels and villas are different, and each have their place in a good holiday. For instance, if I'm in Orlando for 2 days prior to heading for the gulf, I stay in a hotel in LBV. If I am staying for a week or more, it might be a villa, or a condo. It is always a villa when holidaying in the caribbean.

We all have to agree to play nice.
