Pre Paid Credit Card & Car Hire

Just about to book another holiday to Orlando but this time round I wont have a credit card as I have been naughty with them and had them all taken away :) I realise you need a credit card to collect your hire car and sometimes at the hotel.

Will one of the pre payed credit cards that you top up at the post office suffice for this and has anyone had any bad experiences with them as I have never really come across them before??

Many places in the USA (including the car rental companies) dont accept the pre-paid cards, but they will take Visa Debit cards.

I looked into getting the pre paid card from the Post Office for our trip this year. A good idea but it uses VISA ELECTRON which is totally separate from VISA so you need to look for the VISA ELECTRON outlets of which i'm sure there are a lot less than VISA. A good idea but needs to use VISA or MASTERCARD to make it hassle free.

Does anyone know any car hire comp that take the prepaid credit cards.
I am looking at getting one but don't want to end up getting the wrong one.
I lost my job ended up near losing my house so this holiday is well needed. been to florida loads of times, always used thrifty but, they are saying this time I need a credit card.
my card is visa electron and I have no credit card.
I take it I'll need to get the bus lol.
