This is basically a vintage aircraft museum. An interesting one though and they have tried to theme it with various 'sets' showing the history of flight before you go into the main exhibition hall which is packed full of aircraft of all types.

The best things are the flight simulators. They are a bit claustrophobic as you are totally enclosed but turned out to be good fun. There are several of them and you can get into a dog fight with your nearest and dearest. Everyone can do these but just a couple of volunteers per session get to do the helicopter simulator. Our 23 year old son did this and it is not as easy as it looks. A demonstrator took him through his paces on this ( son span out of control) and then showed us all how it ought to be done ( demonstrator did not!)

There are aircraft outside in the grounds also and exhibition flights by staff in the vintage aircraft take off at scheduled times throughout the day. Good gift shop with everything from flight jackets to model aircraft and a cafe as well. A good half days entertainment. Look out for the money off vouchers in the voucher books which are easily found for this attraction. Signposted from 1-4 West ( towards Tampa) or you can head down 27 and keep an eye out for the Fantasy of Flight water tower.

We too enjoyed Fantasy Of Flight.

It was billed as 'the worlds largest collection of historic aircraft' which lead to us being a little disappointed when we arrived as places like Duxford (Imperial War Museum) and Cosford (Royal Air Force Museum) in the UK have significantly more exhibits and at Duxford you can often see a Spitfire or Hurricane flying (they restore them there).

You can fly into Duxford and Cosford too. Kermit Weeks won't let you land at his airfield <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Still, worth a look.

Did you ride the simulators John? You can probably do it. I ended up with the worst score ever, but then I was flying upside down for part of the time. Husband said didn't I know the green bit was supposed to be at the bottom and the blue bit at the top? No point taking those expensive flying lessons then!!!

:).

I had a go at them but had my 3 year old in with me and he kept pulling handles, pressing buttons etc etc so was quite hard to do.

Great fun nonetheless, if not a little different that the real thing (I'm a private pilot, if anyone does not know).

My husband has always wanted to go here and I have always managed to run out of days, I think I'll let him win when we are next over!

Do go, Ruth. We left it for years also, as I was never that keen on going so would always find something else to do when the subject got brought up. I thought I would be bored to tears but it ended up quite enjoyable and it was really nice to see my husband and boys having such a nice time on the simulators ( even though I was useless). It is only half a day and can be easily combined with something like Bok Tower Gardens, which is fairly near, as a trade off ( sassed that one out!!)
