tom tom downloads

I have bought a download of USA & Canada for our tom tom.(go510) Now I want to install it on a new memory card, I have followed all instructions and it won't download, if I put in my original tom tom map it comes up with the download and install but obviously there is not enough room on card, on the new card I have put on the appilacation (I think) and copied the mapsetting file as instructed but it keeps telling me that the map cannot be installed, Do I need to download to computer first if so how, I have tried a couple of sd cards to check that they are OK, am getting so frustrated now Can anyone HELP

It should just go straight into the card but,,, if yo have tried to download it once they can lock out and you will need to call customer service. Also not all sd cards are compatible. Sometimes turning the pc off and on can help. Tomtom home is not a stable program.

Now sorted after 2 phone calls to tom tom one 40 min one I might add, apparently it was a corrupt application file!!!!!!
