You can see the two giant poles from miles away. It can be a fairly long queue ( 30 mins or so if not fast passed) for a thirty second ride. But what a thirty seconds. Basically sixteen people per pole shoot up to the top and back down at a death defying speed. They keep you waiting behind electric doors when loading and you can hear the shreeks from the lot in front of you which REALLY gets the adrenalin flowing. When you go up, it is really fast and really high. What a rush. A fab view of the whole park for a split second before you go down again just as fast. Must be just what it is like bungee jumping only safer. Scarier than the Tower of Terror as you are in the open with your feet dangling. Oh and wear well strapped on sandals or trainers or you are likely to kill someone down below. Not for the faint hearted, this one.

This, for some reason, gets me nervous every time I get dragged on by my eleven year old little brother<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>!! It's such a great rush though, have to say even better than some of the rollercoasters! You also get a great view depending which side you are allocated!!! First time in my life that I have the stomach left behind feeling from going up rather than down its amazing!!!

Tower of fear is a scary ride! Scared me when you get shot up in the air. The queue wasn't that bad when I went but i was a single rider as everyone else chickened out!LOL. Good though because it got me to the front!:D

you want to try the hyperblaster on top of the stratosphere hotel in Las Vegas, you are already 900ft + before it blasts you up another 180ft thats scary especially in the dark

Apparently they've got a new ride at the Stratosphere called X-Scream that propels riders head first 27ft over the edge of the tower and leaves them dangling there. No thanks! [:p]

I went on Dr. Doom with my 9 year old son - I screamed all the way up and all the way down. Not a peep from Jamie - but he did say he enjoyed it when we got off - I had trouble walking in a straight line afterwards.

The best thing about Dr Doom is the view you get at the top.

Other than that, its a bit of a poor man's Tower of Terror, like driving over a hump back bridge at speed.

I agree it is a good ride. It often gets step-motherly treatment between the Spiderman and Hulk and deserves its own kudos.

I didn't see the great view from the top as i had my eyes shut all the way up and down!!!!!!I did enjoy it though!!!

I was also dragged on this by my husband kicking and screaming all the way through the queue which unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it was short
I managed to keep my eyes closed all the way up to the top when they were then forced open my knuccles were white and I had a hard time walking off the ride after
But I am glad [msncry][msnscared]I did it I think [msnoo]

I have to say, despite going on this ride 12 times in succession without queues, I find this ride very disappointing. Tower of terror is for me, far better. :(:(

This ride is awesome:D They had a minor problem when we wereall strapped in our seats and we had to wait an extra few minutes, the tension was amazing and the adrenaline made my mouth so dry i couldn't open it to scream....afirst for me [msnwink]

I really didn't find this ride exciting at all. We q'd for 20 mins for a 30 second ride. Shot you up to the top then bounced twice and back down. Thought it was gonna be MUCH faster. Didn't even get butterflys in my tummy. Thats when you know its a good ride

It is interesting to note that opinions about Dr Doom's fearfall seem mostly to be at the two extremes - people either love it or think it is tame. Personally, I think it IS a good ride but has probably not made full use of all the potential possibilities. I think the ride would be more interesting if the first rise was more gradual (allowing the adrenaline to build up) with the seats lingering for some seconds up top before the sudden, unexpected fall right to the bottom (well, almost ;)). This could be followed immediatly by a RAPID rise and fall for variety and a third one that could go either way -adding a touch of suspense.

I hate it! We queued up a few years ago and I had to persuade Mr CDV to stay in the queue. When we eventually did it I said I would never go on it again and he went away to queue up again!!!

My comment when I came off this after queing with my daughter for 30 minutes was "is that it" I couldn't understand why everyone was screaming. I really like Tower of Terror but I have never been back on Dr Doom because I just didn't think it was worth the effort of walking through the waiting area let alone waiting for the ride.

I suppose it is a half way house ride. Not up there with the greats but not down there with why do they bother/

If you have a family of 4, try all holding hands.. It seems to add greatly to the 'air time'..

We did this on our third and final ride and all agreed it was the best by a street..

This was the only ride I refused to go on, perhaps I will brave it next year

First of all i have to say that Islands of Adventure is probably the best park for teenagers in Orlando,but it is also a fantastic park for oldies like me (48)who refuse to grow up and love the rush of the thrill rides as much as the young uns:D

I went to Blackpool a couple of years ago and went on most rides except "ICE-BLAST" which is virtually the same as "DR DOOMS FEAR-FALL" but without the Orlando views...lol.

Anyway last February on my 2nd trip to I.O.A i was determined to ride it and even keep my eyes open in the process...lol.
And so i did and i thought it was amazing especially the bit at the top where you leave your seat for a second or two which the kids call "air time"

Well since that wonderful day i have since been back to Blackpool and been blasted into the sky on "ICE-BLAST" and best of all i have been lucky enough to have been blasted many times high into the Las Vegas night sky on board "BIG-SHOT" the best thrill ride in the whole World in my opinion.

Below are a few photos i took of each of the 3 blasters.

First one is DR DOOMS FEAR-FALL at I.O.A &gt;&gt;&gt;

My first pic of Fear-Fall as i approached for my first ever ride.

This photo was of the Hulk as you can of course see but you can also see quite clearly the Doctors Fear-Fall in the back ground.

Next one is Ice Blast at Blackpool pleasure beach. &gt;&gt;&gt;

This is the only photo i took of Ice Blast at Blackpool.

Last but by no means least is the BIG SHOT in Vegas. &gt;&gt;&gt;

Here i am on a cold night in Vegas,in February of 2004,all alone and about to be blasted over 10,000 feet into the sky for the 5th time in quick succession,and loving it.

Took this photo the same night as the previous one as i was waiting for my next ride.

This one i took in August of 2004,with the tempreture over 100 degrees,and the views of the Las Vegas strip and surrounding areas were and are incredible.
